He should have 2 day injury by then, but I am not planning to use him with that. I usually prefer high keeper skill over pace and without injury he would play against Canada.

Tomorrow we have the most important match of the season. The game is close, but I still haven`t figured out which tactic I am going to create or use. Have thought about it
for last 6 days. Hard decision, because there are many players injured I need
to use tomorrow. Canada is probably more stronger than Finland. Their players might be comparable, Canada should be bit weaker though, but Seca is managing NT - I guess I have found an even opponent:)

Here are some of then players of NT Canada. I am counting on our strikers tomorrow, because that´s the only thing we should be better or equal. Our defenses
would be comparable only if I could use all my players. No need to mention midfield
which is our biggest problem. Lemiux is awesome in midfield, my favourite type
of player. I guess Caron will be used as a winger tomorrow, but will see how Seca is
going to use him and the others.

As you know I like challenges, that`s why I chose New Zealand and that´s the only
thing keeps me in the game. Can`t really wait to see the game already.

PS! Also Australia has a really important game ahead tomorrow against Belarus. Both teams fight to get the second place in group. Hopefully they also manage to win.

Went hunting for our previous matches against Canada, turns out I was right that we have beaten them before (maybe you already mentioned it so was an unconscious thought). None other than Seca was the NZ Manager back then :D

Will be watching the first leg of the New Zealand vs Bahrain World Cup qualifier at 4:15am on Sunday, and the match against Canada is on at 7am so will probably watch it live. If anybody can win with the scant resources they have available Vilpu, it's you. Seca is indeed a formidable opponent, will be very fun to see you go head to head.

Who would have guess our Zack Baldaro will game hero!?:)

First half belonged to Canada, they had many chances and I was surprised they didn`t score. Baldaro saved our ass. However we had our moments, I recall Morocombe missing one on one against keeper. And that wasn`t the only chance we had.

Second half was totally different - we played well, created more scoring chances and dangerous moments. Gilbert really makes a different. Priore was poor compared to him.

That was our 9th win in a row, still unbeatable this season and we are leading our group with 15 points.

Difficult second half of the season is ahead, hopefully we manage to finish in top 2.

Great stuff Vilpu, the NZ juggernaut rolls on :D

Thought the Canadidans should have at least score one goal in the first half - no doubt they'll feel pretty unlucky and I wouldn't begrudge them that.

Was a good game from Baldaro. Had never seen his name before, must have fallen under my radar :P

Anyway, the real life NZ team managed a draw against the higher ranked Bahrain. Return match is on November 14, if we win we are going to the World Cup for only the second time!! Have booked my tickets, will now have to find flights+accommodation and hope I can get time off :D

Congrats btw!

Nice result Vilpu. What is it with NZ keepers and blinders ;). Despite the fact I thought for large parts Canada were dealt with rather harshly, NZ created enough chances and most importantly converted them when they came.

As for NZ drawing with Bahrain, that's a pretty good result. Hopefully you knock em off in the 2nd leg in Wellington on Wednesday I think isn't it?

Nonono, November 14 like I said.

Bad news though, 21 day injury to Morcombe!
2009-10-11 09:38:52
Ah ok yeah misread that.

Vilpu - cometer 2009-10-04 17:00:27

Our other keepers are lightyears behind Kaz. I would have preferred losing Morocombe over Kaz...Oorschot might be unearthly keeper by now, but his pace is only adequate.

I clearly shouldn`t have mentioned this. Too late to take back my words?

Guys, guess who is the best 22yo striker in the world according to famous Bazy charts? He is not in the table, but his striker+tech+pace=47

:)
2009-10-18 02:00:33
Ash Ferris???
2009-10-18 11:33:55
No. Hint - his surname starts with Brun and ends with ton.
2009-10-18 22:01:06
Oh yes, I suppose he's alright. I just looked for 22 year olds in the NT squad ;)
2009-10-18 22:14:48
Ooh, you kiwis are wise. I thought no one is able to solve my little riddle:)

So far our season has been perfect - 10 consecutive wins in a row, 5 in World Cup qualification phase. Tomorrow we have the match of the season against Canada - If we win, then we can make an early reservation to World Cup.
I still can`t believe we won 2 weeks ago against Canada, that was definitely a surprise. We couldn`t use 5-6 starting line-up players back then, but our subs played perfect game. We had some luck too. Canada is just too strong, especially in midfield. Tactically will be hard again.
This week I have more players to choose the line-up. Rob Morocombe is out with an injury, he scored two goals last time. This time we have to rely on other strikers. Still can`t use Duncan Findlay. His best form has been average in last 2 seasons. Seems like Duncan Edwars´ form is getting better, now it´s on good. Might even use him tomorrow.

I am hoping for another little miracle.

Good luck Vilpu, I will be watching :)
