same here, i have to say that striking is now, more than ever, more random than skill
I agree with that too.
I wish my strikers would random a few more into the net though. This has cost me heeaps of games

Heehee. I hear ya. :) I can remember some pretty frustrating games back before I started striker training.
It looks like a new kind of frustration now. When middies who've never had a day of striker training can beat NT keepers from 35 yards, it makes me reconsider the merits of training high levels of striking.

and strikers of high striking level constantly miss out in front...
Yup. Which (IMO) takes a little away from the importance of tactics and personel, and adds a little more to random. Could be a few more matches with odd results in the upcoming season.
woah seca your commited, and ur better then my maths teacher lol
I do put alot of effort into Sokker (it helps that I live in a somewhat isolated area, and that my wife has terrible taste in television programs). :)
Heehee. Your math teacher must be really bad if you think I'm better based on a few forum posts. :D

Nah i think its just the general consensus of maths teachers :P
My own math lecture was very exciting yesterday, the lecturer walked in and he was wearing pants for the first time! (it was raining) There was a wave of awe around the lecture theatre ;P
That being said, it was the most exciting thing to happen ;)

I hope you're implying he wears shorts the rest of the time. :)
Math can be kind of dry. I try to bring a "mad professor" type of personna to the classroom. Think it makes things a little more fun and interesting. Some kids like it. I'm sure others just think I'm nuts.

About your striker-discussion.
Greg has been pointed out the weird goals scored by mids from passes where the keeper didn't react to at all. He says it was a bug and they fixed it.

Glad to hear it. :)
When did they fix it? The second goal by Wales against NZ this past weekend was a pass into the net from ~30 yards. Or are you referring to the really wacky ones like the type the US scored against Norway and Canada?

what about the striker ability being almost meaningless? can he fix that? :P
also, yes i was implying we was wearing shorts. If he wasn't then not many of us would be attending :)
I do hope you wear pants/shorts...

I do. My "mad professor" routine hasn't progressed quite that far. :)
What's that ... more questions?
How come you haven't been more active in the Sokker New Zealand forum if you were interested in the manager job?
Alot of discussion that goes on in the national forums relates to the national teams. As manager of another country it seemed ... inappropriate ... to join many of the conversations. If you look back through the forum you may notice I was an active participant when it seemed appropriate.
Are you sure you'd play Canada tough?
Absolutely. If I had any doubts, I would have withdrawn from the race.
It is the make-up of the group that gives me a clear conscience. Croatia, Canada and New Zealand will advance easily. Had the group had a 3rd seed like Mexico rather then Moldova, it would have been different.
The challenge for New Zealand will be to finish higher then 3rd. I feel my experience as the Canadian manager makes me uniquely qualified to give the New Zealand the very best chance of achieving that.

when will this be released? :]
Nothing fixed, no time
(fixed only new bug - many goals after long passes)
So it probably should have been changed for last weekend already.
I'll have a look at the game and give a notice to greg, to see if goals like those are meant to be in the new engine.
@Barhilo: I don't think striker skill is useless. If you let a tragic striker and a divine striker go into a one on one with the keeper 100 times, the divine striker will score significantly more goals.
Too much random of course isn't good, but I don't have a very good idea yet of how much random there is in the new engine. Greg fixing this bug is at least a good sign. We'll have to wait and see a little bit more next season. And if it gets ridiculous, the devs will do something about it.

And again greg replied :)

What do you want - very nice lob over keeper... :]
It is your intention that goals like those happen every once in a while?
No, since last sunday, such situations are rarer than in engine from previous sunday (when were very often becouse of bug) or even engine from previous season. Keepers know much earlier if they should run to try to get the ball.
But it doesn't mean that such situations will never happen, so one goal from NT match means nothing.

Heehee. Was just a couple of striker trainers griping. Hadn't intended for you to take it up with the big guy. :)
The concern was that striking is undervalued. That a player can achieve a "very nice lob" by passing the ball at the net (no shot = no striking) does little to quell those feelings.
I appreciate that they have reduced the probability of the event. I only watched 2 matches on the weekend, and it happened in one of them (which is why it still seemed a high probability event to me - my fault for only watching two games :D).
Yes, it's fine to have goals like this. But (IMO) more goals should be scored as shots then passes from this distance, and it should take a reasonable amount of striking to accomplish the feat. I expect it is like this - and it's just the small sample of games that is giving a different impression.
