WHat is most important when young? Def, PM Str or tech, passing. What's a good level?. Does a PMer need STR & Def or does it not matter? I pulled a 18 yr old VG striker that popped every 4 weeks in my youth squad. Struggling for Pace but I can pick that up.
Any hints?

Depends on the position, and your goal for the player.
If you want to have the player contribute as soon as possible, then the weakest important skill (relative to the position) should be addressed, and as the main skills are improved, they should be kept close to each other (ie., a formidable pace/formidable defending player has a better chance of playing then a weak pace/brilliant defender).
Long term, magical is pretty optimal for a primary skill. If you aren't looking for the player to contribute right away, you can drive one skill up to this level, then work on the next one.
For strikers, long term the ultimate goal (IMO) is triple magical (pace, technique, striking). Defending, PM and passing are all nice bonuses.
PS - please send me Barnes' stats. Would like to get him in my database.

Sent. I have a full batch of youths now average solid so I'm spitting them out 1 per week pretty much through to season after next. Most are popping every 4 weeks by the looks of it
Cool. I'll look forward to your Sokker mail. :)
I should add that for midfielders, things are a little different. I wouldn't take PM to magical - formidable-outstanding seems to be pretty effective. Wide midfielders can be devastating with high passing (brilliant-magical). Interior midfielders don't need quite so much - and since they need every skill (save, perhaps, striking) IMO it's best to keep them as well rounded as possible.
Edit: found the info. Thanks!

Turner
Bill's had a real tough time with injuries this season. :( He was a border-line prospect before - the missed training hasn't helped.
Defender is probably still his best career option (alot of work to do with PM & passing to be a viable middie), but unfortunately he has little realistic hope of making the NT.
Lynch
Lynch is fabulous. :) I followed the discussion in the Transfer Thread about him. I suspect he will be added to the NT before the end of the season (like to have a few bright youngsters on-board).
You could really turn him into almost anything - it depends on what you want to do with him.
If you want him to be a wide midfielder, I would suggest training his PM up to formidible-outstanding, while trying to push his pace, tech and passing all towards magical.
If you want him to be a central midfielder, I would look to train all skills (aside from striking) into the oustanding-incredible range.
He could even be a nice defender / defensive midfielder. Train defending to magical, pace to ~ incredible, and add a little more tech and passing.
If you are training passing right now, then I'd suggest you stick with it. Pace might be the next thing to look at (would have the most immediate impact on his play).

i plan to train him to be a central midfielder, what is the order of training, i plan to train passing, pace, tech, PM, all to outstanding, is that good?
Sounds like a good plan. :) Hopefully that fits with what the rest of your team needs.
