Subject: [NT] Copa América

Heehee. I like that. :) (I've been copy & pasting to avoid a mistake).

That is the line-up I'm going with. Kilkenny, Richards, Hird ruled out due to form. Trying to keep it youthful.

Smith in ahead of Matthews and Tomlinson because of the role. Would be Richards if he had any kind of form.

Jerry might look like an odd pick if his value is compared to some of his contemporaries. It doesn't do him justice - he pretty well rounded and I've developed some confidence in him. Against a high-tech team he will sit, but otherwise I'm really happy to get him in the line-up.

Honduras Parlay

If you want to play, answer yes or no to the following questions. I haven't thought this contest through yet - maybe we'll do a Copa Parlay and have a grand champ at the end. Could be interesting. :)

1. Bodger will score 3 or more goals.
2. Atkinson will have more assists then Root.
3. Morcombe will score at least 1 goal.
4. Welford will have a clean sheet.
5. Edwards will commit more panic kick-outs then Anthopolous.
6. A corner kick goal will be scored by New Zealand.
7. A penalty kick will be converted by New Zealand.
8. New Zealand will have more injuries then Honduras.
9. Honduras will have a red card.
10. New Zealand will have a red card.

8. No (what if equal?)

There are several I stated as "A more then B". If it's equal, then A isn't more then B (would be a "no"). :)

Will you need luck in the Battrick match? I don't mind making another deposit in the karma-bank (tho I think the balance is fairly healthy this season).

NZ = no chance tomorrow :P

yeah definitely, we won against them last round on a Take It Easy, lol. 90% sure they'll be GFI this time.

Underway against Honduras.

The opposing manager does a good job changing things up - no real feeling about what the squad will face in this one. He is somewhat consistent with his defensive line placement, so I’m hoping the New Zealand strikers will be fairly well placed.

Typical 3-4-3. Bodger takes penalties, Root takes freekicks. Honduras often uses some width offensively, and there isn’t a lot of width in the New Zealand defense. I expect the New Zealand midfield will control things pretty well, preventing any opposing wide players from seeing much service.

Nice approach by the Honduras manager, but he just doesn't have the horsepower to run with New Zealand.

Gilbert had a nice game - often in the right place at the right time. Jerry was a little shaky. Wasn't real impressed with Smith who kicked the ball out far too often for a central midfielder.

Will tally up the props in the morning. :) Bolivia next week.

Root just dosnt want to play a full game does he?
2007-09-08 09:44:32
hahaha Root doesn't indeed!

I thought it was pretty unlucky for me, Bodger not getting any goals or much ball until right near the end.

Your´s players are really excellent players.

Greetings!

Thanks. I think you are doing a very good job with the Honduras team. It looks like a task that requires a great deal of patience. :)

Round 1 Results

1. Bodger will score 3 or more goals. yes
Bodger was marked pretty tightly, and didn’t get a lot of service. He had to work for every one.

2. Atkinson will have more assists then Root. yes
Thought this would be closer then it sounded, since Root was to play the whole game. Atkinson’s assist was atypical, but counts. :)

3. Morcombe will score at least 1 goal. no
Had a good opportunity, but blasted it wide.

4. Welford will have a clean sheet. no
Only faced one shot, but it was a high quality chance.

5. Edwards will commit more panic kick-outs then Anthopolous. no
Root’s expulsion made it tougher for Jerry (no outlet middie on his side). Edwards looked sharp throughout the match.

6. A corner kick goal will be scored by New Zealand. no
Thought I had Bodger in a soft spot in their coverage, but Kelly wasn’t able to get the ball to him.

7. A penalty kick will be converted by New Zealand. no
No penalty kicks were awarded, which surprised me a little.

8. New Zealand will have more injuries then Honduras. yes
At least Sansom’s knock does not appear to be serious.

9. Honduras will have a red card. no
Equal fouls between the teams (a little surprising) and Honduras’ were apparently less serious.

10. New Zealand will have a red card. yes
What else is new. :P

Scores in Round 1
Wivak - 6 - winner!
Al Thore - 5
Barhilo - 5

I’ll try and get it ready a little earlier next week. Maybe some kind of contest structure will come to me by then. :)
