Out the window it would appear :) seems as if they sort of listened to my ideas...although there is still work to be done to make new starters stay.
Worldwide numbers are up, but thats mainly down to countries like Vietnam really taking off, they are bigger in user numbers than us now. :(
I agree, I have tried my best with promoting our youths to ensure we get the best possible training....but when many people dump their youth schools it makes it much harder. :(
yep, a small pool of players, a much lower number of serious users and no commitment to training for the NT across the community means we will be overtaken very quickly by other nations
But i don't see how we are falling by the way side as other nations should have the same issues?
I am now in a position where i want to train talented young English MID's, but the problem has alwyas been, "where are they?" and "errrr, how much?". i think we suffer a little bit in terms of foreigners love an English youth, although that's a very poor excuse.
I still think we need a better starter system, a reward scheme for certain achievements, and better placement of the tactics tab etc.

There are less English trainees around without doubt, I certainly feel I can be testament to that issue in that I have scouted for the u21 side for 5 seasons. Other countries just have much better youths.
I do sometimes wonder whether the price of English trainees being high is my fault as I try to build up the interest (only within our community though) - however when a foreigner gets involved it leads to bid wars which are unhealthy for our bidders.
I will not be blamed from next season though.

No, it's not your fault, we gave the world the game, and everyone loves the Premiership.
Full NT i hope? I also hope you still stay involved with the development of the younger players.
Less trainees will continue i feel, with the new youth system, but in theory they should be better, younger youths.
I also think more youths slip the net in lower divisions or abroad then we think. I have always advocated youth schools since i've been in the game and will continue to do so. Many IV teams are choosing high wage players and coaches and i think they are making a mistake.
I think a youth school doesn't have to be as expensive as some make out if it's managed properly.

I am planning to take on another role in the future, our full NT is one I hope to go for, I am possibly going to try and take on a role in a larger country at u21 level first.
As for youths slipping the net, it is possible some do not get trained, but I have the perfect scouting tool to to pick up any youth that does. Therefore none slip the net that way.
Our youths have got better lately though and I hope this continues. ;)

Its not just youth schools its this sell sell sell thing you look at the best of threads and see how many are sold to clubs who are not English and who then fold.
We need to nuture our own players but how many of us have the coaches to do it and the money to get the youth in the first place?

Very few, but i didn't have the coaches to train my English players but i did anyway. As i improved so did my players. For example the following players would have only sold for a few £'s if i listed them after pulling them from my school:
Cory Gallon, age: 25
club: Armitage Shanks, country: England
value: 358 650 £, wage: 4 305 £
solid form, incredible tactical discipline
height: 175 cm
bookings:
formidable stamina tragic keeper
brilliant pace adequate defender
incredible technique formidable playmaker
outstanding passing average striker
Bobby Moor, age: 25
club: Armitage Shanks, country: England
value: 597 150 £, wage: 5 610 £
unearthly form, magical tactical discipline
height: 177 cm
formidable stamina tragic keeper
brilliant pace solid defender
magical technique formidable playmaker
outstanding passing adequate striker
Weak coaches only make a pop's difference over years, so maybe these guys would have a touch more defender and playmaker or something. SK is a patient game, and it can be done even with limited coaches.
@wdp, that's very disappointing you are "going abroad" and is the very problem we have in England! :)

It will probably be for one season only, maybe I will not do it. I am not decided yet, but in reality somebody else really should have a go at the u21 role for England now. Even I am fed up with my excuses. lol
i can only see this situation getting worse as well, many users in england are leaving, and some i know closing their junior schools because they can save money by buying an experienced foreighner.. where is the fun in that? producing a quality youth is the most rewarding part of this game imo :)
I have heavily focused on training English players, to the detriment of my overall team. Will continue.
