Subject: [news] Supporters Mood Update....

As of next season your supporters reaction to victories and defeats will change. Your supporters shall be less disappointed if they lose to a stronger team, especially if the score line was close. If you marginally lose against a much stronger team the chances are your supporters mood could rise as they will see this as good progress. As always there is a dark side. If you lose against a weaker team you can expect your supporters to be very upset at this loss and have a severe mood swing. Also when playing against weaker opposition it will be harder for you to please your supporters as they will now expect you to win comfortably.

These changes will affect league games, play-off games, friendlies and cup games.
Please be aware that the influence of supporters mood after a game was always calculated depending on the strength of the opposition and score, now it will be more visible.

I'm not a big fan.

Seems like its in my best interests to attempt to lose all my friendly games by big scores in order to destroy my ranking.

Having taking a kicking in 2 successive playoffs to get into II against far stronger teams and seen my end of season payout take a similar kicking & disloyal fans leaving in droves as a result I think it's a good thing.. in theory..although for it to have an impact in friendlies too is a bit crap..still some re-jigging to make the fans mood a bit more realistic was well over due..

Will the fans be happier if their team beats a higher ranked team or if their team gats lower ratings than a team but still beats them?

If its the second criteria, then it sort of will apply to friendlies
2009-05-10 13:50:01
I hope that they will re-jig it to make friendlies less important.
2009-05-10 13:51:41
LOL just as I have started to increase my ranking too. Time to get stuffed by a fair few IV teams in friendlies again. :)

This was bob standard for my side anyway so no changes really, last season was just a fluke.

You guys are jumping to the wrong conclusion too quickly.

Ranking has nothing to do with the calculation, that's the only details the devs are wiling to let us know though...
2009-05-10 15:03:38
Fair enough, I don't know that much. lol
2009-05-10 15:06:22
it's all on the linguist's forum... :p
Not much to paste here I haven't said anyway...

I don't really agree with the change and think the fan mood should be more long term then short term if anything. Ok this isn't real life but it should mirror it to some extent if this is supposed to be a footy game. After Man Utd got taken apart by Liverpool I don't remember seeing fans tearing their season tickets up or hearing about them doing it the next day.

Regarding the playoffs they are even more messed up compared to the real world. Hull City sold out their stadium for this season before they even played the playoff game at the end of last season so even if they had lost their supporters were happy because of their efforts that season and the hope that they could challenge again if they didn't go up.

As long as the method of calculation seems sensible I don't see any possible objection.

If the ludicrous rankings are involved it could be messy.

I don't see how a comparison with ManU and Liverpool has any relevance as they must be regarded as close rivals rather than weaker or stronger and therefore this wouldn't change anything.

Ok point taken, Man Utd losing to Fulham then or Liverpool losing to 'boro.

Point is the fanclub is a season tickets thing and people don't rip those up on short term results.

I think that new fans could join if the team is performing well but fans already at the club will wait until the end of the season before deciding if what they have seen from the team if worthy of their hard earned cash for the next season. To use Hull City again at the moment they have won only 1 in their last 17 games but they are still filling the KC stadium.

After taking a caning with my fan mood I think any change would be an improvement.
2009-05-10 21:23:08
point is this is a game not real life - in real life Wigan will never overtake ManU in fan support however well they do - EVER!

Would you be happy to accept that you can never get as big a fanbase as Mcoi - EVER?

We don't want real life here thanks
2009-05-10 21:40:51
surely Phil is old red nose and Mcoi is Arsene Wenger, 4 seasons without a trophy ?
2009-05-10 21:46:40
Mcoi is emulating Wenger in his continued failure, but Phil illustrates why real life is no use as a comparison since he is practically a Hull City in terms of Premiership pedigree.

Sokker has to be more flexible than RL
