Subject: The U21 Team - Qualifying Season

Well thanks to everybody once again, its down to business now and to try and put into work what I preached in the last two elections. This season we have the qualifying campaign and Group B which is a lot harder than we could have been drawn in, the group consists of this:

Hungary - 1055 users
Holland - 731 users
France - 1198 users
England - 542 users
Bolivia - 127 users
Jamaica - 19 users

Qualifying in the 2nd pot like the full NT side we were extremely unlucky to come out with France from the 4th Pot and Hooland in the 6th pot. The big kick off is this week with a home game against Hungary

This is what I plan to do, not necessarily in this order but alas it still needs to be done.....

1) Set fixtures for the season, this is already done as the following friendlies have been arranged for the spare weeks where no qualifier is to take place. On the whole I plan to play 20 yr olds for these matches so that the 21 yr olds have less chance of injuries.

Week 3 vs Croatia (u20)
Week 7 vs Suomi (u20)
Week 11 vs Scotland (u20)
Week 14 vs Sweden (u20)
Week 15 vs Moldova (u20)

2) Sorting out a squad, at the moment I have picked 32 players. This is a mixture of 21 yr olds and 20 yr olds mainly. A large scouting mission will take place over the coming week to ensure we have the best possible players within the squad.

It is imperative that if you have a player you feel is capable of playing in the U21 Team that I am made aware of them via SK Mail or by updating either the DATABASE below or the Future Threads also below.

The squad itself is still shy of the quality keeper that other countries have, but the situation is better than last season. Defenders wise we seem to lack depth, last season this was arguably our strongest area. Midfield wise we have some nice options and more strength in depth than in last season. We lack the stars like Stroud and Blunsden but have more overall strength. In attack we are at our weakest with no real depth at all, we must try and avoid injuries there.

3) Scouts, a hugely important role.....especially considering the above. The scouts from last season are still in place, if you do not feel you can help then please let me know so that I can find a replacement. Are there any other volunteers, as I have other roles that I need completed this season to ensure that our future stars are trained correctly and not lost from the radar.

Goalkeeper Scout/s - NCFC & Daleg2006 - Future England Goalkeepers
Defender Scout/s - doughnut_jimmy
Midfielder Scout/s - jpk030876
Striker Scout/s - Jaize

I will fill these slots with maybe more than one person to start with, the intial trawling through will be both time consuming and pain staking, but hopefully we can unearth some gems that slipped the net. Once the intial searches are done, the Future Stars Thread and Best of threads in Sokker England should help to ensure we keep a track of players as they become available.

4) As per the above it is blatently obvious we need to increase the amount available to the U21 side and then the Full NT for future years. The future stars thread in Sokker England will be maintained. I do now though need to SK Mail ALL teams to ensure we have all potential stars within this thread. It is not extremely hard to do, just a matter of cut and paste mainly. Any help with that to cover a few series maybe really nice?

5) One of my original ideas was to also set up Academy teams within England, i.e specific teams within England that train English players in certain positions. I realise this is something that could be quite restrictive to teams in the way that they play the game, but it may not be as bad as first imagined and could be something that teams stagger into.

An example of this is my team, I have trained strikers since day 1 of joining. I now have 3 striker trainees all of whom are English. I plan to train all English strikers one day, but I am part trained in some players and so will wait to fill these slots when I finish the planned training I am undertaking.

To expand further - When a player is pulled or is made for sale the Academy Teams are contacted, if they have a slot available they can then purchase the player and train them for the good of the NT side.

Ideally it would be nice to have:

2 x Trainers for English Keepers
5 x Defender Trainers
5 x mid Trainers
4 x striker trainers

This is just of the top of my head as this could be well short on what is actually required. Any volunteers for this would be greatly appreciated, and I feel would be a very satisfying way to train and play this game. English players are rare and carry a fair value compared to other countries like poland. let me know what you all think?

Academy Teams Within England

Goalkeepers - Gunners FC
Defenders - The Wolves FC / Croydon Cosmos
Midfielders - Forest reserves / Progressive Eels / Wideboys / Diamond Sharks
Strikers - Longfield Tigers / Maggica ROMA / Real Tom Tits / Red Marauders

We do need more trainers for Defenders etc. For the future to be bright we need all users within our community to participate. For informational purposes we have various threads running that list both our best Youth Academy prospects and also our Best Player prospects for the different positions:

These are:

IMPORTANT THREADS USED TO TRACK PLAYERS

1. Future Stars Thread - maintained by wdp74
This thread is for listing all of your talented Academy players not yet pulled. Once they are promoted a link is made to ensure we track them. Plus if the player is good enough they can be transferred directly onto the Future Threads below.

For the Threads below please check page 1 as there are ways to calculate your players ability and this is where the list is kept of ALL PLAYERS.

2. Future England Goalkeepers - maintained by Daleg2006
This Thread is used to list all English Goalkeepers being trained. No matter how poor you think the Keeper is please check this thread first as there is a serious lack of Keepers in England.

3. Future England Defenders - maintained by doughnut_jimmy
This thread is used to list all English Defenders being trained. Again as above please check the thread, your player maybe good enough when you think he isn't.

4. Future England Midfielders - maintained by Pilotfish
This thread is used to list all of the best Midfielders in England of different age groups currently being trained. Again even if you are not sure please check the thread out as you may find you have a great midfielder in your team......or maybe sold on as a youth on promotion?

5. Future England Strikers - maintained by DanVan1
This thread is used to list all of the best Strikers in England of different age groups currently being trained. Again please check the thread as you may have a player we need.

The National Team Database

Please could I ask that Everybody who has potential players also update the database below. It is very simple to do and will help greatly in achieving the best selection of players possible!

National Team database

This is just the start, and I am sure I will be adding to this post once I have had time to collect my thoughts. Hopefully it will be a succesful season and I am sure we can do better than we are expected to do, it may take a little more work than for other countries but we can do it.

Cheers wdp74.
