Reece Hateley, age: 17
value: 44 850 £, wage: 645 £
club: Royston Vasey, country: England
very good form, tragic tactical discipline
poor stamina, good keeper
unsatisfactory pace, tragic defender
tragic technique, tragic playmaker
good passing, hopeless striker
Is this guy any use? Only the 2nd player out of my youth squad. Seems like he might be half decent?

He would be a decent keeper trainee for a pace trainer.

Going straight into your training regime of evil then?
It seems to me that for strikers, where the players only really need Striker, Tech and Pace it is better to find and train a younger YP, say 16 or 17 with high talent.
That is a very useful junior, but I would guess that if you could find a 16 year old with skills of a total of around 18, he could be trained to be much better than that incredible junior by the time he is 19.

yeah, I agree. If you can dig out a 17yr old with say adequate in the 3 key skills, and talent you have agreat chance.
I have not even trained Charles Landon properly at all times, yet he is an England fringe player, and was exactly that.
Only problem is that playing a 17yr old in the cup is risky....

A lot of the strikers in NTs I've noticed haven't tended to cost a lot to buy, but upon reaching NT level they sell for loads.
Well, it pretty much backs up the theory.
I just spotted a 16 year old on the market with solid pace, Weak Tech and Ave Shooting. He will probably cost very little to buy, but if he is talented, and trained properly, he would be an exceptionally good striker in several seasons time.
I think that the only trainers who really need a player who came out of the junior school at a really high level are mid trainers. With needing to train so many skills, the all-round skills of the top YP's are a perfect base to work on.

however I still think that a "midfield" trainee with all good skills trained as a striker, would be a great striker. Too many strikers have no passing and playmaking which makes them a bit dumb at times...
I am trying to create such a striker.
My estimate for age 22ish is
Formidable stamina, tragic keeper
Formidable pace, Solid defender
Outstanding technique, Formidable playmaker
Formidable passing, Incredible striker
I wonder if that would get to the NT?

Well, wouldn't that be an offensive midfielder?
