Subject: Promotion Table

Yep, you generally need a 100% record and then often a good GD to go with it.

Well, in division IV it's tricky, but I wouldn't give up hope just yet.

Bear in mind that the the fixtures are arranged such that the top teams from last season will tend to play each other in the last few weeks of this season (for example, the teams placed 1st and 2nd last season will play each other on the final day). This means that quite a few of the teams on 36pts have their two toughest matches yet to come...

yay only III team with max points now :) hope i can keep it up for the final games :)
of course, if you can't beat a mid or low table division 3 side, there's no point going up anyway.

Agreed unless of course you have lots of money to spend too which is unlikely coming from III.

playing forestman, got my own plan of crooking all his players with the NT, worked out quite well so far ;)

Last season you needed 100% record and over +95 gd to auto promote from div 4. It will be interesting to see what happens this season.

im 7th in that div 4 list. max points +85gd.
So should i bother promoting or try and lose a game before the seasons out?
I dont like losing and would prefer to go up and get battered around a bit. I've concentrated on training youngsters this season and they've come along well, but im lacking in defence. If anyone's willing to have a look and give me their opinion i'd be very grateful :) Thanks

id imagine you would struggle in any 3rd div you go into but i wouldnt lose a game go up and find out you might surprise yourself and beat people with higher team scores and just think of the satisfaction that will give you
2009-11-16 19:26:46
that's rubbish, you could lose to 5th place and still stay up.

I would always recommend promoting if possible. Fan mood still and has always been kind if you are really out of your depth. Even if fan mood suffers when you lose most games, you will still gain fans every week because of the difference in class.

It will be a good test and will expose you to more tactics :o)

haha, i remember that last season and being over the moon with a draw first game of the season. Think that was all i managed though lol.

I'll have another crack at staying up :) How many is it that relegate from each league?
2009-11-16 21:06:57
depends on the league, but all below 4th have to have a playoff at least. in our league only 1 tends to auto-relegate as we are the top league in III but i remember being in a league where 7th & 8th both auto'd
2009-11-16 21:07:44
I agree and the higher sponsor money really helps to improve the team too.
2009-11-17 11:14:36
what i am trying to say is that it is difficult to promote for a reason.

Equally, you can have a good team and be a good manager and get unlucky in the divisional lottery.

My Div IV seems to have 5 active managers capable of taking points off each other, whereas other people complain of a lack of human opposition, making them more likely to finish the season not just top, but with auto-promotion quality stats.

But promotion shouldn't be easy, since survival is unlikely to be..
