I have a incredible/brilliant junior coming out next week and I'm thinking after that I might shut the junior school dowm.
In the years I have been playing this game, I don't think its been worth the hassle.
I'm just wondering if shutting it down and making a profit every week is going to be more beneficial to me in the long run.
Anyone else ever considered this?

Its a tough one.
I've made just over 1.5m from my junior school in 3 seasons (inc. coach costs, sacked juniors, etc.) but I haven't yet tried to sell a decent prosepct since the cardiogram talent graphs came in.
It's all well and good people saying train the junior for 6 or so weeks to prove talent - that's ok if you train pace - but what if I get a great striker pull when I'm training passing... it'd be stupid to train them.
I think I'll keep it open until I actually feel like I'm losing money...

It sounds alright when you say you sold a youth player for 1mill+.
I haven't really had that many valuable youths in the past.
My youth coach cost me 300k+ a season and my spaces fluctuate between 20 and 30. Your looking at a grand total of 500k a season.
I'm just not sure atm I just haven't been lucky with my pulls. My last brilliant junior sold for 40k lol how bad is that.
I was just thinking how badly my club has been ran economicaly by me in the past.
Come on 11million transfer profit and nothing to show for it :0 it really had me worried. Its like I only have 200k in the bank now.

You're right about the proving talent thing.
Unfortunately, they have changed one of the best parts of the game, and i only play now to see first team pops on a Thursday.
If it aint broke, why fix it?

well it was a bit broke wasn`t it. We had juniors costing millions because of a graph and trained players post 27 were worth next to nothing. I do agree that now its too much the other way and we don`t know anything about any junior despite spending a fortune on coaches.
I must admit I have made been wondering how much I have lost on the school per year. One guy made 200k once, he was my best sale so far!

its worth having, you could make a hefty fortune like i did
I might just ditch it for the rest of the season and see how it goes.
I'm just thinking 500k profit ontop of bonuses and attendance could come in handy.
Your talking a million a season. Yeah you might get a nice youth everynow and then, but they take a couple of seasons to come through. Unless you get lucky with a younger one.

I reckon I'm going to do it.
I worked it out as:
Coach+school 500k
Leage games 500k
Bounuses 200k+
That's 1.2million a season and without cup games, friendlies and other bits and pieces.

Abandoning the youth school is worth consideration given the changes made to the system. The choice is essentially saving a guaranteed ~£500k per season (about £640k for me personally) or gambling on getting, on average, greater than £640k of sellable or trainable youths per season. The inability to prove good talent beyond doubt will reduce youth value somewhat (at least initially), but I suspect most users will gain more from their youth school than they invest - especially once they're established and can afford the maximum fortnightly outlay. Personally, I reckon I had considerable above average luck in my first few seasons with juniors, and this has been balanced out by around 4 seasons of rubbish (talent, age, promoted skills - take your pick).
Can I ask what your £1.2m figure is about? Surely only the £500k is relevant in your decision?

I too have had nowhere near enough decent players from my junior team to make it profitable, and since the junior school changes i have become somewhat bemused by it all!!! Players going up and down like a yo-yo all the time is becoming frustrating!!!
I would save about £460k a season by not having my junior school, and that figure is based on only 16 juniors which I have atm. With this in mind I am seriously considering ditching my junior squad also.

I'd highly recommend everyone except me ditches their junior squad.
My players would be worth loads then.

my biggest sale straight from school was an overpriced keeper trainee that went for £600k. I would say I am massively in the hole. on the other hand i do have a few nice trainees that i didn't have to buy so that helps. although i could have bought nicer with £500k per season now i think about it. tempting to ditch the school for sure.
I've never had a blockbuster youth
but it is a strange season where I don't sell a couple that add up to £500k or so
plus the youths like Dudley Inns that I sold eventually for £5.5 million - how much would he have cost?
True - a large part of Dudley's value and of Slater that I train now is the assurance I have that his talent is near max and that is perhaps now less certain, but the talent of a bought youth will remain even less certain.
Anyway after clearing out the older youths it looks like the new system will always be a smaller and therefore cheaper school.

The only reason I don't make a profit every week is because of the youth school.
So everything I get will go straight in the bank. See what I mean?
To me 1.2million is a lot and tbh, you could actually buy a decent trainee for that price every season.

I have a very expensive training set up and I reckon it easily pays for itself every single season. Selling on fees amount to about 125 000 a season and there is always either a million pound trainee to sell or a million pound trainee that I can keep.
It is a bargain in my opinion. Despite the cost..
