Subject: Youth school

I agree but you will find they are like London Buses, ask ermejo he got about 4m worth in the space of 2 weeks iirc?

Mine have been more spread. I actually mis-calculated - I have 3 of my 6 striker trainees from my youth school now.

They were all worth I think around £5m together......thats not so bad is it?

Judging their value now is hard but I would say Coatsworth £3.5m, Julian £1m, Oulton £2m. I am happy with the youth school and WILL NEVER lose it.

If I relegate I would rather get rid of other expenses first.
2010-01-23 13:16:09
so you would dump your head coach and assistants then?
2010-01-23 13:39:04
i would strongly recommend to everyone to keep their youth school going

we haven'y got many users and we need every junior we can get hold of to feed the NT

also the school does pay for itself and generate profits in the long term
2010-01-23 13:44:33
I would cut other costs first as I say.

If I had to cut the coach costs elsewhere then I might......not HC but maybe assistants first.

There are many costs that can be cut though. Besides I am at bottom fan mood already. :(
2010-01-23 14:04:28
Like where? As I see it there is only coaches wages, players wages and the youth academy that make up the lion's share of the costs. Where do you compromise...
2010-01-23 14:07:32
Players wages of course would be first.

The cut the youth school size down depending on talents etc.

Assistant Coaches maybe.

Or do what I did when I first started in IV - allow for a shortfall and use a player sale or money from end of season bonus to see you through.....thats what I did anyway.

A mixture of things could work though surely?

Ok just some facts for you to think about.

I have my youth school since I started to play sokker. I am in the 11th season now.

I started out with a solid junior coach for some weeks, some weeks later I changed to a formidable, some weeks later I changed to an incredible for about 2 seasons I had that one(cost about36 000 $ each week).

Then I changed to a brilliant coach and kept him for 3 seasons, he cost about 47 000 $ each week.

After the brilliant one, came finally a magical, which cost me about 50 000 $ each week.

So in about 10 season I spent roughly 6 700 000 $ on coaches wages.

Concerning weekly costs of of new juniors, hmm I havent been very lucky with new youths on saturdays. I guess in average about 12 each week + 6 free spots.

So that makes roughly 2 900 000 $ in 10 seasons.

So just a little less than 1 000 000 $ each season that the school cost me.

It would be ok if each season one can sell one talent for that price or receive a junior for ones own training I think.

I had 4 pretty talented juniors since I have my school, all with quite low skills and horrible skill distribution, but young. 2 were 18y and 2 were 17y.

Since many seasons when I buy trainees I spend about 500 000 $ to 1 500 000 $ on each new trainee, in some cases till 2 000 000 $.

Well those 4 trainees that I trained all quite for some time ,I got them all together for 140 000 $ in total.

Other youth players that I sold sum up to about 5 000 000 $

I have to say I am not one of the lucky managers when it comes to youth school. 3-4 seaons I received only 1-3 new youths each saturday and mostly they were useless and got sacked right away. I was down to about 7 youths in school at some point.

And so many possible nice talents I had 34 weeks to find them 20y or near 21y , bad skills, low endlvl, couldnt even sell them for 1 $...

All those overaged players cost me sooo much money.

3 of my youths that I trained myself sold for about 13 000 000 $, one I still have.

I also received about 1 000 000 $ for youths when they got sold again before turning 24y.

I never had my youth school for the profits from sellig them right away, but get the young and talented players, even with bad distribution of skills, to train them myself.

So on that side I am a bit sad, but from a profitside I dont think I can complain.

But there is more.. sunday to wednesday I indulge myself in my hopes for many skillups. Friday I can hope for many new youth. So its an up and down I would miss that too after closing down my school.

Actually 1st time that I really calculated this and its not looking so bad. I thought it was much worse.

And for you there is one more thing to consider. You prefer to loose to the german national team by lack of skills or by old age?:P (Just joking, allways been fan of the english national team:) )

Now if that isnt an incentive to keep your youth school running, I really dont know:)

Edit: Oh one more thing. I can allready see in my youth school the talented ones can still be clearly recognised and the talent screens are good enough. Those ones which we usully kept with old system are the ones we keep now too. (young, talent, many weeks and high start level)

And what realy cut the cost I can fire now all those 20y to 21y players which will only cost money and make no profit.

interesting... but your magical coach costs you 30,000 pounds? that seems expensive!
2010-01-23 22:15:03
Basically I always put my youth school first, so always lost money on trying to get maximum spaces and the best youth coach.

Now I won't be losing money I will be making money, i will achieve 1.2million a season might be even more depending on the cup run.

To me that has more security and one I can afford to buy a decent trainee if I wish.
2010-01-23 22:46:27
Even so thats not 1.2m surely. Could you have a more expensive coach than me at Unearthly?

Also I estimated at 24 spaces, surely 6 spaces extra at 600 at 16 weeks is not that much? I make that 57600.

I am losyt at your figures, now I have had a lot to drink tonight, and do not drink much so maybe I am just.....well drunk?

Anyway the school stays and rocks in a large way compared to no school which just spells an even more dull week without it........just my drunken opinion of course.
2010-01-23 22:48:41
yup his numbers are weird.

im 770k ish i think per season and i have an unearthly coach. It does make me think tho 770k to buy a good junior or 770k to gamble on getting a good junior
2010-01-23 22:52:00
In your analysis you have not included the 5% of your youth re-sales, it can add up over several seasons.

I have never formally added up my profits from my youth school, but I know I will be up my several million pounds.
2010-01-23 22:55:29
You have clearly not read my posts or misunderstand them.

With a youth school I don't make any money through sponsor payment etc... So I lose money I.e losing out on 500k a season on coach expense and youth school expenses. I also have to sell players to keep afloat.

Note my 11million profit and no money in the bank, virtually all that has gone on youth school and coaches.

Now without a youth school I now don't lose any money every week.

So I get the 500k from the youth savings a season

500k from league matches

200k from end of season bonuses

Grand total of 1.2million.
2010-01-23 23:02:56
Your transfers show the full price received before any deductions.

You have received 82 million from transfers, assuming half of these transfers were on players under age 24 you will have lost 6 million from that total.

Your stats are a bit flawed in relation to your profit/losses. You can only really count the costs from your youth school and compare that with the benefits you would have received.
2010-01-23 23:16:50
No disrespect meant but last season I made a profit every two weeks by having fans madly in love.....this season I make a loss every two weeks through having fans who are (unrightfully so) furious....irrespective of whether my youth school existed or not.

I genuinely believe I would have paid out more just for the 3 trainees I have than I have through my youth school....and never been 100% sure of talent like I am now.

Youth schools rock end of. ;)

Seriously though making a loss every two weeks is generally what happens to most I believe, then every so often you'll get a great youth to train which then enables you to seel another trainee for bundles.

Disclaimer: I genuinely apologise for the fact my posts make no sense through excessive copious amounts of alchohol tonight. Many will claim this is no different from the usual posts made by me with no acholohol.....I say to you....whatever! ;)
2010-01-23 23:38:24
Actually I have, the 1 000 000 $ I mentioned were those 5 %. Add up several times? Yes ,if you can sell a lot of juniors and get lucky so they will be resold. As I mentioned I am not really that lucky. The 1 000 000 $ is mostly from one youth that was sold twice after he left me.

But still as I said for me the whole school is still worth it.

@steelers: Yes he was expensive, just checked again, I now have a cheaper one which cost about 39 175 $

But I wouldnt mind to have one much more expensive again, as soon as I have more funds. I belive in sublevel for coaches:)
