Subject: Youth school

try -104k ;-)

My point is, its not neccessary to cut cost if you do carefull planning. So after a big sale I make sure I have enough money to keep me alive till next sceduled transfer.

Ofc its much easier to plan future sales and profit on young and talented players. Trainees from ones own youth school wil be cheap, proven talents from other teams expensive. Just another reason to keep a youth school:)

so how much difference have you found from mag assistants?
2010-01-25 18:05:38
I would estimate it between 15% and 25 %.

The difference to 3 incredible which I had before the magical ones, that is.

Been there done that mate

It gets to a stage when you have to sell players to stay afloat.

I think cutting assistants is the way forward I now have 2x excellent's and a formidable . All 3 of them come to a total of 11k :) bargain

I was never forced to sell a player I didnt want or plan to:)

But sure your way is less risky and time consuming, nothing wrong there.

One thing comes to my mind too. Its defenitely easier to make the school worthwhile when training pace, most trainees will lack it.

And making enough profits only with fresh youth sales might be a bit hard indeed. At least when I look at my stats, though as mentioned before never been that lucky.

But as soon as one trains ones own juniors, as long as they are talented and young its easy to come out with a profit from the youth school.

I am sure some Managers like ermejo have done very well from the YS set-up, & well done to them for being so lucky

I have not had a high quality YS pull or fantastic YS £ sale in 3+ seasons - so it is not all rosey within the YS set-up for all SK Managers

The Managers that have done really well within the YS are posting to support the scheme, & rightly so .....but the posts in support of YS are not vast

If I was asked the direct question - is the YS worth the cash/gamble every season - I would say no

But I still live in hope of a great big Youth multi million £ catch, for just 1 more season

Note sure if I made myself perfectly clear.

As I posted some pages earlier I have had only 4 good players in 10 seasons. No really great sales either in between, lots of average sales though.

I would for sure not recommend a YS for managers who think they can profit only with selling fresh youths, especially now with new system. Yes I would call it a gamble too, but thats only because I havent been too lucky.

I know managers who had good enough luck to make enough profits with fresh youths . I am certainly not one of them.

Though I think the most managers have a little more luck and receive at least one trainable youth in a season.

For those managers if the only decide to train those talented and young ones themselves, the YS is definitely worth it Id say. Talented and young youths from own school will be soo much cheaper than a similar player on transfer market with talent screen attached.

To sum it up:

So 1 young youth each season with decent talent for own training and its worth it.

Or hoping for good sales fresh from school=gambling.

So for me its worth it , since I allways would prefer my youths for my own team. What greater fun is there to help a "hopeless"(but young and talented16y-18y) youth become a star. Especially fun with majority of managers telling you to get rid of him, no chance he will ever become something good.

I was told so about Märzke, player I posted some pages up.

Lost a total of 4k yesterday, really pleased with that.

That included a incredible yc and 6 spaces, it will fluctuate as time goes on, but its one I can live with and still make a reasonable profit every 2 weeks :)

Probably something to do with your 16 man squad. Going from an incredable coach to a magical is atleast another 10-15k on your wage. It all adds up to me losing 40k a week.
2010-01-31 20:05:13
Not at all

The players salaries come to more now.

The main reason is because I lowered all my assistants and swapped a magical yc for a incredible that costs half the wage.

All In all a very wise move I think, I can't believe I went 4 seasons losing money. :S

OK, everyone i need help deciding whether to re open my youth school. i currently make a profit of £30,000 each week without a home game. Is it worth saving the money or shall i open the youth school. in other words are there significant benefits?
2014-02-04 22:25:03
I've not so far had anybody that I could sell for decent money but I'm still continuing with my youth school in the hope that one day somebody will make me a lot of money or that I can get somebody that can be useful for my first team one day.

However, from an English user perspective we need as many English users with youth schools open as possible as that is the only way we can drive the number of potential English U21 or NT players higher. So for the sake of the national teams, please can you open it, "your country needs you!" ;-)

I have re-read some of the posts I made on this subject and 3 years has passed since. I actually opened the school a couple of years later, but I couldn't actually tell you if it worked and I made more money as I left the game for a bit.

I have since re-opened the school a few weeks ago just for something else to do, player wages killed me last week -135k that was a bit of a shock! So I need to address that, but I'm hoping that will drop over the next few weeks as I should start picking up wins.

In all fairness I don't know anymore, old players win games, but you need top quality HC and assistants to make sure they don't drop skills to suddenly. I had a good conversation with a Polish Prem team a few days ago and gave some good advice.

If I was in a position again where I was making 30k a week profit without a home game I probably wouldn't bother.

I have not stopped my youth school, but have to say I have had absolute dross from it for at least a year.
