unexpected WO for me in a match i could have scored 10+
not great!
not great!
I don't think so, I only use 1 striker and a 4 man back line.
I saw that and expect eirkr to be be really gutted at the lost training.
It works fine, I have been doing it for ages to maximise training. All I can tell is that depending on the positional setting seems to dictate how that individual goes about business.
For example if a player is set to MID he will pass more regardless of position, or at least they seem to in my games...

I don't play 5 at the back mate. The formation last night was used to cover ncn's winger and i did reluctantly use a defender with MID orders last night as i only have 9 trainees. I contemplated playing 2 strikers, i just don't have 2 strikers! I would like to do what phil suggested but i can't find a defender good or young enough i am willing to train in midfield skills for the money. I chose to get extra defenders as they are cheaper. I do think i need a new striker...do you have £3m you can lend me?
I get how they work. When i had clubley in the lower divisions i used that tactic to good effect. The problem now is finding a good enough midfielder i can play as a second striker. I have tried to buy in mid's with a bit of striker skill but ultimately they are not strong enough.
I have had good success with a midfielder pushed right up as a striker but playing as MID and the effectively lone striker was on the move laterally in the formation all the time to avoid the defenders. This worked great, but I haven't used it this season due to personnel changes.
First time in ages I haven't watched a match live, and now I wished I had, if only to see what all the fuss is about :).
I'd put the win, and most of mine this season, down to striker position + striker skills + striker form vs goalkeeper skills + goalkeeper form. This is the most important part of the funnel for me, and probably explains why strikers are so gosh-darned expensive.
I think I have 3 weeks of bots now. Joy.

Agreed, but for me the most important part of that equation is striker form (by a country mile)
I have a 2xMagical/1xBrilliant striker (more than good enough for III).
Last night he had 9 shots, admittedly against a good keeper, but countless other opportunities when he didn't shoot or had his shot blocked.
Anyway, he had five 1-on-1's with no defensive pressure and failed to score. His form ...tragic!

I would imagine that form fits some kind of bell curve, you'd probably be looking for him to be converting 1 of those at good form, 2 at good - magical, and 3 above magical. I always pay extra for good form players.
Seems reasonable.
As to his form, that's the really frustrating bit ...he was in unearthly or divine form when I bought him, but has steadily declined since being purchased :(

The only answer seems to be to sell and take the financial hit really. Not ideal, but better than keeping them.
Having watched the match, it has to be said that I fluked it rather than crafted it. I think DJs' strikers hit the post 3 times. One thing I did notice though was that 2 of my goals were tap-ins as a result of the keeper dropping the ball, the 3rd was a one-on-one, it makes me wonder what DJs' keeper was like in terms of pace.
Am agree on the form thing. I just upgraded my keeper to someone with 4 more levels of keeper but 3 less levels of pace. Thoughts were i'd save more one on ones not less (i play such a high line i don't think pace is needed as much). I do have formations with 2 strikers, i do love 2 wingers though!
