TV Studio

Well, here's a funny thing. I didn't expect to win this election, and now I find myself on holiday in the Isle of Wight (I'm in a nice internet cafe in Newport as my HTC Desire has chosen to have memory allocation problems every time I use the internet), and having to set up a team for a qualification game against our biggest rival.

Switzerland are likely to pose our biggest threat, but this game is tactically very much a case of anything goes, as both managers are new to U-21 matches.

I've also not been able to set up friendlies this week, with the exception of a week 0 game against France. Or get together any kind of meaningful u-21 players database. But these things will occur when I get back to civilisation and have more spare time at work.

No doubt I will provide value during my brief but entertaining tenure ;)

Make sure your GK can stop a ball shot directly at him on the ground!

I'll have it noted that my NCN out campaign started first!

1-1

A tad lucky to draw although we lost many 1 vs 1 headers.

If there's anything that ncn is, it's lucky.

Well they missed a penalty too. I was confused by Bradbridge constantly not passing when the strikers were in space.

I am sure that NCN will have more time next week, I am sure that Hartle should not be getting a slot though.

It was certainly not a disaster though, so well done NCN as it must have been tough whilst away. ;)

Oh and finally Kilvane is a midfielder not a defender.

a draw is a decent result, and if we can follow it up with a win against the usa then even better :)

yeah hartle is poo, i should know as he come from my JS :p although his pace was handy at times :)

As I've just got back from a working days' worth of driving, I haven't yet had the chance to see the match.

In mitigation for the selection decisions, Hartle was picked because Wenden from Bumber Stickers has picked up a 2 weeks plus injury, and Kilvane was played as a defender not a midfielder because I had to pick what I thought were the best players on the basis of the "Future DEFs / MIDs / ATTs" thread scores, as I didn't have access to spreadsheet facilities. I think Kilvane was 2nd best 21 year old defender. Now that I am home, I'm going to ask wdp nicely for the spreadsheet he must have tucked away somewhere :).

Considering all that, I think the result was pretty good, just imagine what we can do to Switzerland when I actually know what the skills are for our best players ! ;).

That all makes sense mate, well done on a good result.....hope your holiday was good? :)

It was very restful. Apart from the imminent match against the biggest rival and constant loss of internet access on my phone.

We were very lucky not to get caught in the middle of the back 4 a number of times, good job we've got a decent goalie. Hopefully I can get the defensive issue sorted when I know who to play in there properly.

Good effort fella, the commitment was there for all to see. The Isle of Wight is a lovely place, been countless times. Shame the ferries cost so much these days, particularly in the peak season.
It's the most expensive stretch of water in the world. daft thing is you can walk halfway to portsmouth when the tide is out.
