Subject: 3rd place teams get screwed by fixture lists

I finished 3rd last season. This is my itinerary for this season so far.

qualifiers week
pre-season week
week 1 - away
week 2 - home
week 3 - away
week 4 - away
week 5 - home
week 6 - away

2 home matches in 8 weeks. I've had to sell 3 players to keep out of bankruptcy so far, and I'm selling another tonight.

Could we mitigate this by sharing the gate a bit more between home and away teams ?

That'll teach you to finish 3rd.

Thanks for the sympathy ! :)
I don't get the complaint. Pre-season and qualifiers are irrelevant, then you have alternating home and away games except when you have 2 aways in a row which is mitigated by having 2 homes later.

Not having a pop, genuinely think you should just keep a bank balance above a few hundred k.
If I do that, then I have money in the bank doing nothing. I've got a home match next week, and 3 out of the last 4 matches are home ones, which is helpful, but not yet. The pre-season weeks everybody gets, fair enough, but then you're still looking at 4 away matches in 6 weeks, which when you're carrying large wages becomes a pain.

you finish the season with a few extra home games anyway.. there isnt that much difference in it all like in my opinion.. ok yeah sure gate reciepts are nice and all.. but i mean you should as a top club be keeping 500k in the bank at most times anyway i would have thought

why ? Maybe it's just me, but isn't that a waste of money ?

Do you run your bank current account that way?

If you do. I will just say that the bank must enjoy your custom and no amount of explaining will help.

If you don`t then ask why don`t you run your finances that way. Words like rainy days might enter your head!

This thread is the funniest for a while!

what's funny about wanting an even playing field regardless of where you finish in the league ?

+1

@ncn: I had 2 away games in weeks 3 and 4, i didn't finish 3rd. I took a hit. I'll earn it back. Honestly, i'd expect this from sty but not from you :S

Why not just random the fixtures aswell. My fan mood is falling quickly with having the top 2/3 sides in a row and then have them again straight away. You don't see Arsenal vs Chelsea at the start and end of every season! This would inturn mean you could have home, away, home away, home, away.

Why not just random the fixtures aswell.

Starting the season with 7 away games?
2 away games on the trot is fair enough - 4 away games out of 6 is excessive.
England managers don't handle money - maybe I should just run the U-21s from now on ? ;)...
The other 2 were just how it was due to ranking, not because of where you finished in the league.

Maybe just stick with the kids aye ;)
