Subject: »[U21] Friendly Vs Ecuador

2010-10-11 14:29:06
Hi all

TV Studio for game Vs Ecuador

We've got a U-20 / 21 game against Ecuador this Friday. Ecuador will be fielding 7 20 year olds, I think we regularly field 3 in our world cup games, but I need as many player updates as possible. If you want your players to play this Friday, and be considered for next seasons' World Cup finals, please update using :

a) The NT database
b) email to me.

Preferrably option a) as I have to do less, and I am lazy by nature.

It is also possible (results depending) that I will use the final qualifier against Switzerland to field 20 year old players, so if you want your players to get a game, tell me their skills please :)

What's the point in asking for updates and then setting the team 50 minutes later?

He asked for updates days ago, and if he gets updates I am assuming he will change the team if better players come up?

I was pondering as I'm sure he must have had a team in mind before making the post!

I know he's only 19, but do we have six better U20 mids?

Bill Strudwick, age: 19

average stamina, unsatisfactory keeper
very good pace, excellent defender
good technique, formidable playmaker
outstanding passing, excellent striker

btw - I was waiting for him to pop to outstanding passing today before updating him.

On the basis of the response I had a few days ago, you could argue what's the point in asking for updates. Of course, now I have made what could be perceived to be an error of judgement, I expect this thread to be really popular, and everyone will have an opinion.

He's a lovely lovely player for that age. But his pace / tech combo is too low to use in this game, sadly. With tech that low, I'd need pace of 13 or 14 to be able to use him, or failing that, more defender skill. Depending on how he develops, I might be able to use him later next season though.

I really should try harder to be controversial shouldn't I ? :)

Wint is top scorer in the world cup groupings I think. Hollis is our best available 20 year old striker.

Lucy, well, I could have picked him above Wint but he isn't scoring as many goals, and Slaters' form is still in the toilet.
