Subject: [u-21] Vs Belgium U-20

This Friday finds England playing Belgium in a U-20 match. Belgium are rated 2nd best in the world at the moment, so a draw would be a good result, and should help improve our ranking. With a key striker and our best winger on slight injuries, I'm hoping for a couple of quick recoveries before the game.

That match was an example how one should NOT play Sokker :P Actually you had only 2 mids on the pitch, one of which was eliminated shortly after the starting whistle :P
And why the hell did you play with 5 defs? Whom were you afraid of? You'd better agglomerated the centre a bit more :P

I played 5 defs after a few matches where the defence looked shaky with 4 defs. I had lost to Holland, and it seemed that most u-21 teams were playing 5 defs, so I changed it.
How would you have played differently ?

..and against Bulgaria, you had all of your attackers eliminated by red cards. Which proves what ? :)

Well, there are few 'general' rules, if I may say so, with regard to NT youngsters.
1. Never use wingers (unless you have a damn good one);
2. Never use 5 defs (unless your opponent has a damn good winger);
3. Play your tactic, do not try to 'tune' it according to the opponent's placement, it may be changed what most NT coaches do from match to match in order to delude the opponent. Let HIM playing according yours and think about it :P

:))) That was a f***ing match, I do not want go back and discuss about :P
General rules, or yours ? Only a lot of the teams I have played against at this level have used wingers, and 5 defenders. Although I'll be playing something different on Friday, but that's coincidental :)...
Edit - thinking about it, Holland beat us with 2 wingers...

I felt the same way about the Norge match. They got 4 goals from 6 shots ! And that sending off to the key playmaker too :)...

Napoleon once said that the one thing he wanted from his generals was that they were to be lucky.
