i've had a think about it, and i've decided to run for england u21 manager this season. i ran 2 seasons ago against NCN and lost by 1 vote. since then i won my II division and got auto-promoted to the prem, and then got auto-relegated in the season just gone.
in my II i was only the 3rd strongest ratings wise, but i won the league with 12 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss.
in the prem my side was a lot weaker than the other sides. normally by at least 5 ratings points, but i still managed to get 10 points, and was only relegated on the final day of the season. even though i lost a lot of games, i still caused some nervy moments for the better sides, and made problems for their teams.
i have picked up a lot of experience since i last ran at the highest level, something that counted against me last time i ran.
i think i am strong tactically, and i'm confident that i can use a variety of tactics to good use when needed. last season i used 6 or 7 different tactics, often made just for a certain match, and they worked well for me.
i like to play attacking football, as most of my matches show from the last few seasons, but i can also play defensively if needed as my games against phil and gibbage at the end of the season show where i played deeper, and attacked on the counter. in these i managed to only lose by 1 goal in both games against much stronger teams, and even managed more shots against gibbage.

i have a few ideas for the u21 side, to improve us as a nation for the future; to encourage more users to train English players, and make sure that the players are trained in the right way. i would try to get the community as involved as possible, and although it's hard i think i could have some success in this.
i would do the scouting on my own, unless someone volunteered to help, but it wouldn't bother me, as it would just be an extension of what i do with the future ATT thread.

any questions, comments, or support is more than welcome :D

Tom

What do you feel needs to happen in relation to enable the quality of players within Englands NT continue?

I have voted for you

thanks to everyone who has said they'll vote for me so far :)

a lot has been said about getting more people to train our english players which we do need. i'll try to get more interest in this by making a thread encouraging people to do this.
just as important however is getting people to train as we would like. i did a bit of scouting a couple seasons ago for us, and i was amazed at the amount of players who are magical in one skill, and then only good or solid in another.
it would be a case of getting updates at an early age, on players who are 16, 17 and 18 and making sure that they're not just trained in one skill. asking managers to train their def's for instance to 2*incredible is more useful than magical+excellent.
i would do this by first creating a future NT stars thread like in sk international but only for english players. then people can ask if their players will be good enough for the u21 or NT, and for advice on what to train. secondly when i get updates i can message an owner of a player who is starting to look lop-sided in their skills, and ask if they'd A, change training, or B, if they'd be willing to sell the player at which point i'd try and find someone who can give the player what they need which is where the other thread becomes important again :)

Tom,

2 seasons ago I promised you I will vote for you after 2 seasons of ncn. And be assured I will keep it. :)

To an extent this is the kind of role you will perform anyway as a u21 coach - Muhajir had a similar kind of defender in the first season, frustrating because he was only really pickable towards the end of his 21st year.

The only problem with this is that not everyone uses the forums, and the youngest players can be tough to find from lurkers. Scanning the transfer markets regularly, and pushing the NT Database at every opportunity is probably the answer to this.

You'll do a good job - I was trying to get borkos to run against you but he's busy. So the job should be yours with 11 votes in the bank so far. Good luck.

wow, it's a shame you've pulled out because i think you've done a good job for the last two seasons.

i know, but the idea is to catch them as young as possible, so that when a player like muhajir's is 17 or 18 we can get the trainer to change training to make them more rounded rather than at 20 or 21. the transfer market is a great tool for seeing young players, and only needs to be checked every 2 days. plus then we can encourage our users to buy them, or if not establish contact with the new owners straight away, and try to persuade them to train what we want.
the hardest part will be finding the young gems hidden away in IV that have never being transferred, but given a bit of time i would plan to make my way through the teams and check to find these :)

"wow, it's a shame you've pulled out because i think you've done a good job for the last two seasons."

Kind of you to say so, but 10 votes to 2 on day 1, and 5 people giving their support in your thread to 0 in mine, says that the job is yours.

"i know, but the idea is to catch them as young as possible, so that when a player like muhajir's is 17 or 18 we can get the trainer to change training to make them more rounded rather than at 20 or 21."

Some you will catch, some you won't, I guess new players aren't much more aware of the forums and NT as they could be, it probably seems divorced from them as new / series IV players. It will take a lot of time to do this, to be fair, it's not something I could do in the time I have available, and if you do this then you deserve the rewards for the commitment you're putting in.
