Can people help me understand this one? This season I have won 2 cup matches and lost one, and won 2 league matches and lost one, in which i had two first half injuries to key players This is a pretty good start, as far as I am concerned. So the result? My supporters are depressed and 4 have just left the club.

My interpretation of what's good and the game's is not tallying at all. in fact, I despair as to how to have good supporter morale. it seems so simple in league iv but not in league iii.

How can i keep morale up when I am getting such a bad response to a 67% winning record?

It could be that your rating is higher than most of your league rivals, which is causing high expectations to lead to depression among your supporters.

Fan mood is based on the size of your fanbase compared to the team that you are playing and as such is bollocks. This has to be the only game in the world were some sort of skill as a judgement between the strength of opponents is based on something non reflective of skill at all.

All you can do is either....

1) Spend a couple of seasons throwing games to drop your fanbase so that they will develope brain cells.

2) Hack the game and change the code to something more logical and probably get deleted for your trouble but earn thousands of new friends that will benefit from your handywork in the community.

3) Suck it up until someone bangs the devs over the head with a hammer and they see how bad the system is with presumably many people like me just going through the motions because it's impossible to take much fun out of the game at the moment.

4) Leave in frustration at nothing being done (after 4 seasons I think it is now) like a fair few seem to have done in the last few seasons but the total number of players stats don't reflect this much because of asia keeping the numbers up so everything must be ok in the devs view.

At least if we had gift shops at our clubs we could at least make a bundle by selling anti depresants to supporters before games or just alcohol in large amounts if nothing else.

Fans will be depressed after not really improving in III for ages.

....but if he hasn't been improving in div3 then his fanbase shouldn't be high enough to be expecting too much in the devs world of thinking. It shouldn't be a matter of having to keep improving anyway because it's only a matter of time until you can't improve anymore and get pummelled for doing well in the past.

I wonder how Bradford fans feel at this time. Or say... Notts Forest, the nearly team for a while. Some people do get annoyed.

Forest fans are pretty loyal, as are Bradford's but what about Luton? That's been a nightmare.

I don't think its as bad for Forest: the Championship is the fifth best attended league in Europe.

I hope I fill my stadium for the visit of last year's league champions... But will my supporters go suicidal if I lose, despite lacking two key players? Maybe we need a Samaritans feature in the game

I fixed your typos

Fan mood is based not alot on anything sensible

i do love your description it wonderful

LOL I went through a period where my fans were always unhappy, it is annoying and imo the ranking and supporter moods are both wrong. As much as it pains me to say it Gibbage should be the No.1 ranked England team but is below me, and I have only just promoted to the Prem for the first time - clearly thats wrong!

I have mentioned the odd thing to greg as others have but sometimes it is like banging ones head against the proverbial brick wall.

Its half language barrier and two thirds stubborness with greg :P
2011-03-29 21:19:10
I think 2 thirds the 2nd one actually.....at least. ;)

Even that weak Doughnut Jimmy is ranked above me these days.

I don't think size of fanbase is a bad basis on which to determine whether your fanbase grows or shrinks. A 'big' club should be expected to beat a 'small' club. And if you have decided to rebuild or are just a poorer manager then tough. It means that if your fanbase is out of kilter with your actual squad quality your fans will leave or join accordingly to rebalance things

Size of fanbase is not a bad basis for some of the calculation but surely it should mainly be about team strength or ratings? (hmmm that wouldn't work either!).

What about when the evil match monkey raises his evil sniper rifle from the stands injuring three of your players and then blaming it on one or two others so they get sent off.

You have no proper cover for four players (happened to me) both during that game and then in the following matches resulting in your fans leave in droves because you couldn't beat the bottom team with 9 players on the field of which two were the ball boy and tea lady.
