why did my striker fall 7 levels in form over 2 weeks, after he score 5 goals & had 3 assists?
The simple answer is no-one knows - some think form is random, some think form is down to performance on the pitch, but we haven't been told. However, in real life, do strikers go out and celebrate their goals a bit too much, and then suffer a loss of form as a result ? It does happen sometimes.
he fell 7 (seven) levels in form from 2 matches. we won both matches, & he scored 5 goals & had 3 assists. not good to see things like this, as it is wrong.
In my opinion - form is a random variable, but can be influenced. Generally it has to do with defenders being play in midfield or vice versa with any misposition, they feel they don't play enough/play too much and some just are plain grumpalumps :)
I've had similar falls, including just recently to my current striker. He scored 6 goals in his last match in good form though, so I wander how much effect form can have sometimes.
Using value as an approximation, its pretty big, around 40% I'd say.
It's universally agreed that low form on strikers generally spells disaster.
At least, it's the position it's most noticed.

Aye to that, my striker:
formidable [11] stamina hopeless [1] keeper
outstanding [12] pace good [7] defender
divine [17] technique average [5] playmaker
average [5] passing incredible [13] striker
In tragic form is indistinguishable to this guy in max form:
formidable [11] stamina hopeless [1] keeper
solid [8] pace unsatisfactory [2] defender
excellent [10] technique good [7] playmaker
unsatisfactory [2] passing excellent [10] striker
formidable [11] stamina hopeless [1] keeper
outstanding [12] pace good [7] defender
divine [17] technique average [5] playmaker
average [5] passing incredible [13] striker
In tragic form is indistinguishable to this guy in max form:
formidable [11] stamina hopeless [1] keeper
solid [8] pace unsatisfactory [2] defender
excellent [10] technique good [7] playmaker
unsatisfactory [2] passing excellent [10] striker
Agreed, but there must be other variables that go into scoring a goal, otherwise how else does a bloke in good (7) form score 6 goals from 13 shots ?
I've always thought the striker skill was only shots on target - I've had my midfielders score multiple times against magical keepers, but when my striker has low form or striker, it seems as he always just about misses.
Also, people get lucky sometimes. You get lucky too much ;)

Good form, less than 50% ratio. Doesn't sound miles off.
In my experience, a 1 in 2 ratio is about as good as you can expect from a striker. you'll get flukey games where they score just about everything, but 1 in 3 seems to be about what you can expect from a player in decent form.
I've probably just had a flukey game for the form. Which suggests that someone needs to work in their random.

I don't know about this; I've had strikers purportedly in great from who can't hit the target. I can think of plenty of times I'd have taken 1 in 3.
Form drives me crazy. The guy with the best figures in the club was off form for two seasons running, never rising above solid the whole time - and he was the only striker that didn't get injured!
