gregs approach on this was actually worse than what you see now. Before when you lost a play off your supporter mood went to rock zero.

His viewpoint is that the fans are depressed because they didnt win promotion. I suppose in this game our fans are totally unrealistic and expect promotion and when it doesnt happen they dont walk away saying "ah well at least we won the league".

Well mood and expectation needs to be linked. My fans expected us to lose - we did and then they were unhappy whereas before they were happy as they had won the league.

Ages ago, I suggested that next to supporter mood, you had a "supporters expect" result for the next match. e.g. if the supporters expect a 2 goal defeat, then you lose by more than 2 goals, you lose fans. if you do better than they expect, you gain them. A 2 goal defeat would be the "0 fan loss / gain" point. Shouldn't be that hard to implement, and would give transparency.

Thats a better idea. I like that

Well, if I could program php a bit better, we could all play my game. But it wouldn't have a match engine, cos I can't do flash. Swings and roundabouts...
