Fellow managers, some advice if you would.
My main new signing for the year is a 20yr old keeper from Peru. Nearly a million quid. I was not going to train him specifically as I train mids and have two England under 21 players. These players are 21 incedntally and so I wont have any NT players next year as I have no other English talent coming through.
Now he has been selected for the national team squad. I also think they tried to tell me that he might be the best 20 year old.
I could train another year of passing and put him in midfield on friendlies or I could do pace. Really wanted to train tech this year though...
Damn what should I do?

depends on the rest of your trainees, i wouldn't mess up the training for all your mids just for the keeper. Rainbird and Weightman mostly need tech, but pace would benefit them both as well. although Trude doesn't need much pace now, don't know about the rest of your trainees. i always try to train what would suit the majority of my trainees.
Players fail to get trained properly all the time. Club always ultimately comes before country so I wouldn't go out of my way to train him.
Given Peru's userbase, I'm sure he'll easily be overtaken.

What those 2 said. I will add though as nobody probably wanted to...
...why did you spend quite a bit of money on a really young keeper when you planned tech training?!
Just sell him and get players and trainees in to suit your training pla and maximise revenue.

I wanted to get someone who could last 7 years and who might get a few pops from general training. Next year when he 21 I will be doing pace which will help him and then at 22 will be training passing.
The few pops you might get from general training is not enough to warrant not training a young player for that period of time and negating his value.
You were better off getting an older and better replacement, then selling and buying this guy when you planned the pace and passing IMO.

Fair point. I did consider that but he was the only one at the required level I could get.
There were none better that I can see and at the times of the night I log on I take what I can get. I think I probably spoiled some sort of deal anyway. Anyway, he is playing better than my old guy and he will be Brilliant pace and passing at some point and outstanding keeper but maybe incredible so he will have some value when I sell him aged 27-28.
I guess the bottom line is we do what we have to!

If your access is as limited as that then that's fair enough :) just trying to give advice if I can without trying to be too judgemental ;)
Good luck with him! :)
