Subject: Weekly Training

Best training week I have had in ages!

The pops were nothing too special, 7 in total including some nice random pops.

What was great though was that form went up +19 on my squad, about time that started turning around, low form has been killing me over the last few weeks!

pace:

19- adequate
20- good
21- v.good
18- adequate
18- weak striker
This 21 yo was a magical YP, 3.66 week pops in YS, and yet formidable - outstanding took him 6 weeks. (Excellent - Formid took 5). There's a definite benefit to catching them young !

Pace is an odd one at times...i randomly bought a 17yo who has now cleanly popped to unsatisfactory pace after 2 weeks...doesn't really say that much about talent yet but it's above average.

In contrast, i have a 19y player that, when 18, took 3 weeks to formidable PM, but hasn't yet popped to adequate pace after 3 weeks.

And, my mega super-duper talent machine Bensted is popping so slowly in pace that i wonder if there was a glitch in his talent or something...2 weeks+GT's to adequate pace, 3 weeks to good and solid pace at 18y's and he was a 3.75~ with formidable coach throughout. I am hoping he is going to continue to pop in pace at that rate until about formidable/outstanding!

All i can think is a combination of extreme sub-levels and pace's slowness.

Its not a glitch, its just a reflection of just how slow pace training is!!

I have seen loads of examples of this with my own players, players with proven YP talent of under 4 weeks who pop painfully slowly in pace, especially at the higher levels.

I quite often throw your name in the international wildnerness when pace training pops up, as you probably know ;o)

Could i expect Bensted for example to carry on popping at say 3 and 4 weeks up to outstanding? He must be near max talent.

I still think age is the hidden factor in pace training.

Age is the hidden factor in all training, its no secret that players pop slower as they get older.

As for how fast you can expect him to pop, well it can be a bit hit and miss, but I would say you will be looking at pace pops something like this, its just a best estimate, but I have seen similar things with my players.

Very Good - 3
Excellent - 4
Formidable - 4
Outstanding - 5
Incredible - 5
Brilliant - 6
Magical - 7

It could perhaps be less uniform than that however, like for example due to sub-levels you could have a 4 week pop to Very Good and then a 3 week pop to excellent.

OK, that's not too disappointing, cheers.

Age is the hidden factor in all training, its no secret that players pop slower as they get older.

I know that, but i think it is more weighted in pace, and the rules says so. Most people agree with me internationally too :o) and it's the difference in opinion that makes this a joyful game.

I reckon its more a case that people don't like to accept just how much slower pace is at all levels.

With younger lower pace players, all pops are fairly quick, so if a player pops in 3 weeks in pace rather than the usual 2 weeks they don't really notice too much (Even though thats 50% slower!).

If the same player when a bit older starts taking 6 weeks to pop in pace when it may have taken 4 weeks for say passing to pop to the same level, they notice it more, the pops start to feel painfully slow and pace is suddenly assumed to have slowed....Even though the pop speed is still 50% slower.

I pretty sure I can't add anything to this debate now that pace training supremo, Monsieur Fox, has spoken, so I won't :)

Passing:

21yo to very good
19yo to good
21yo to solid
18yo to solid
20yo to excellent

Randoms:

20yo to brilliant playmaking

A very good week :) The 18yo took 2 weeks to solid and the random was entirely unexpected (only took 29 weeks GT ;))!
