...how about we make a step by step newbie guide (I know we have one). A topic that will tell new users where to put his money at the begining, what coaches he should hire and what to train. The current guide explains a lot of the manual and where to do and what to do but no precise step by step action.Example:
Step 1: Hire a coach - Head coach - its recomanded that you train stamina and then (maybe) pace in the first season (as pace is most important skill in IV) so get a coach with uneartly stamina and pace with a wage around xxxxk.
Assistants:- general apraisal good (or whatever) with a wage around xxxk
Step 2: Look for trainees - Start youth team or buy 10 young players that need pace training....and so on...

What I am trying to say is that ppl start to undestand how train a bit late in the game...if they did those steps mechanicly then they would train even if they didnt know how.
I think if I would start again I would have a much better team now if I knew how to train earlyer.
For example - toughest thing in IV is finance.
I realised that instead of trying to brake even by cutting costs of coaches and youth team a better tactic is to invest and sell players - you can break even easily or even make some profit if you sell 10 players a season. You buy ten 17 -18 years old with adecvate pace - you train them untill outstanding (at least) and sell them. Yes they must have some other skills as well...but if 1 also randoms and becomes a promising youth you will get even just from selling 1-2 players for good money and the rest for peanuts. The other way ...is safer but takes a long time that way to develop your team...I prefer fast and risky :)

you can get young players that need pace training for under 10k. They wont turn out to be superstars but they will bring a good income from selling.Example:

xxxxxxxxxx , age 18

Current bid: 3 150 £
end of bidding: 2011-10-31 11:02
tragic [0] stamina tragic [0] keeper
poor [3] pace solid [8] defender
average [5] technique excellent [10] playmaker
weak [4] passing average [5] striker

With some luck you will get this guy for under 10k. and if you train his pace to excelent will be able to get a good price on him when you sell him. 9 more like this and you are on your way to good finance.

everyone should run a youth team with the best coach they can possibly afford 9doesn't have to cost a fortune)

the youth school is a long term game and can see dry spells as well as big talents worth millions, also worth pointing out that english talents tend to sell for an inflated price

Why is this?
2011-11-01 01:02:16
because there are not many around and english users tend to want those few that are available and pay a premium for them

also, do not understimate the 5% of future transfer fees which can add nicely with juniors being traines and sold

I have ever only had about 3 decent juniors worth over £500k, but last season was the best with Gerry Baskerfield, got over £3.75m for him and allowed me to strengthen my team in II, god only knows what it would do for a III or a IV series team!!!

Exactly why i have mine open. I was an average division III and with a couple of youth sales i've rebuilt, came second in div II and got to the cup final. I think the positives FAR outweigh the negatives. Yes it can be frustrating but you just have to remember it's just a matter of time till you land a talented youth, rather to team and sell or just stick him on the English forum and let Kipper bank role you ;-)

But you got Super Blue ;)

But I have two players that should come out new 18yo brilliants at the end of this/start of next season. I hope they'll be good :)

Can't do that anymore. I've really enjoyed training English yths had 3-4 of my own who are top class and alot who have gone for decent money. I also make a min of 200k a season from sell-on fees.
