Subject: Can nothing be done?

SSJP [del] to All
I invite you to look at last season's League IV.II. Firewater Doves got a bad draw in the play-offs, and lost 1-0, the third goal they had conceded all season, apart from the cup. Two good teams are thus stuck in that league, winning by an average of 10 or more goals a game when they aren't playing each other. Assuming one of them wins both games played between the two, one will get promoted at the end of the season. What happened last season was that they drew in the first match, condemning the winner of the return to the play-offs.
Last Season? Almost no competition.
This Season? The same
Next Season? The same for one or both sides.

This is no fun at all: Can't the leagues be re-drawn at the end of the season so that two really good quality squads by League IV standards have a more competitive fixture list?

An alternative suggestion: Why not have league IVs in groups of 15 that played each other once, with one bye round per team, and one midweek round at the end of the season when they're all out of the cup? At least teams like mine wouldn't be stuck with little competition or entertainment.

I'm not sure what Yorkcitynil or Firewater Doves will do if we don't win on Sunday, but apart from trying to have a run in the cup there is nothing to look forward to until the last match of the season, three months away. Even then it might be better for the side that lost in the first match of the season to lose again so that one side goes up, at least. Problem last season was we drew in the first match of last season, making a play-off inevitable.

You could argue that if you lose a play-off you're not good enough for league III, but don't forget I'm on less than half of the sponsorship money, as well as getting lower attendances, so I have far less development/transfer capital than a league III team, so to get as close as we did was a very strong performance.

Surely it would help if League IVs were re-arranged at the end of the season?

Hey, What about White Team in league IV.16? Last four seasons: 1st 1st 1st 2nd (won 12 lost 2)

Valid points..

though i agree on your points, i don't agree that it should be changed. the system is fine the way it is, when i first starting i was but in a all bot league but with 1 person in it (he wasn't very active)

he was getting ratings if i remember of about 45. though i had to stay in the league for a few seasons because he never went up, i was more active because of it, not the paying bot aspect, but the buying players in, and selling them on for good profits. this is something that i can still do in my league, but its harder as i have to spend good money on non-trainable players if i want to do well, where you have the opportunity to spend all your cash on trainees, and still win every game in your league.

well that's what i did, over 3 seasons had about 15 players between 19-21, made some nice money, and never ending up having a stronger team than the guy above me, but i had better tactics. so i got auto promoted, and only because of the money i made in the lower league, i was able to stay up. not sure if this is what you wanted to here, but the current set up is what made me 'do so well', and i can't see it changing.

I recommend that you should aim to get out of Div IV as soon as you can, which solves all your problems. I was stuck in Div IV for more than 1 and half years with another team of equal strength and can understand your frustration :(...

STOP CRYING and MAN UP BOY

I absolutely agree with SSJPs point, but unfortunately I wouldn't hold out much hope of a rule change; sadly the people who run these games tend to make smaller improvements that affect everybody, rather than fix problems that spoil the game for a small minority

However, one thing that actually could be done would be for the community to encourage people who are quitting to sell, fire or weaken their team. It wouldn't completely solve the problem, but at least it would increase the chances of teams in your situation getting a winnable qualifier.

if you can not win Qualifying match that it means you are too weak to get promotion.

end of story.

I think a couple of the responses on here are slightly poor and not needed.

The first, yes. But i agree with ghetto i'm afraid. It's annoying, but just be better than the opposition. Problem solved.

I had the same thing in IV and it took me 4 seasons to get out.

@cooly get a sense of humour m8 and man up

I wouldnt say its needing a sense of humour. Ive seen quite a few of your posts and you always seem to be acting the bell. What ever gets you going though i suppose

I agree that it is fustrating and very very boring. I remember it it well. I did not even need to concentrate for three months of the year, season after season. It also did my tactic skill no good at all.

However, it does give you time to do other stuff. I improved in Hattrick no end and in this game I spent a along time in working out what makes suitable players and coaches.

I am not sure anything can really be done as we are a small sokker nation and the pyramid is not a good size for div 4 managers.

ok, i have an idea.

let's play 14 weeks and than after let system makes a big draw and decide who is champ and who has a cup.

Maybe it will be a time for me to be a English Champ or let's make a world draw and than my team will become champ of Vietnam or Fiji :)
