good win for usa using the super tactic of sokker
2012-05-05 19:53:15
You seem pretty mad.
2012-05-05 21:01:05
Most people use the same tactic to win including england its like the 3-5-2 of hattrick. Mad not at all just dissapointed that one tactic can be so dominant But its the same in almost every football sim if we could join a few of them together we would have a really good football management game, but its free to play so what can you expect

how come Watcham played so high up?

if we beat Azerbaijan and France i think we'll still have a good chance of going through :)
2012-05-06 23:31:50
I wanted him to play fullback and not to play Inns as he is in fantastic form. Not sure why he is so far up perhaps thats just the way the tactic looks?
2012-05-06 23:57:26
the tactic shows the average postion for each player, so he will have been high up all game. he's a great defender, but i don't see why he played as a striker/attacking mid

edit: never mind just clocked on, that when a second tactic is used it just shows the second one in the match viewer. so we started 541, and then went 442 when Watcham went off for Coatsworth

Sorry for being slow in response

I had a 2nd tactic to chase the match with a 433 if we were losing 1-0 at 55 mins, hence Watcham 'looking' like he played as a FC but he didn't

It was a mistake by me to make the tactics change at 1 goal down - as we were well in the match, but the change allowed USA to pull away from us with some easier goals

The reason for playing Watcham as a DC not FB - was his height. The last match v's the USA we allowed a lot of chances from headers - so I hoped he could help nullify that threat

All in all - a poor day in the office, with only myself to blame for some lame tactical choices

Just gotta hope that the USA &/or France have a couple of poor games, & we can sneak a couple of wins - but it's looking very very tough

I feel a little sorry for Azerbaijan, they dominated both games against England but only managed a total of one point.

Looks like we will have to beat France next week to progress, still in our hands.

Fully agree with you Phil

If I were the Azerbaijan Coach - I would be gutted not to get at least 4 points or perhaps the full 6

Yes, it is still up to England to qualify - as we need to equal or better the USA result

Azerbaijan will give the USA a good challenge - so I have my fingers crossed England can still get to those fantastic World Cup Finals

Will give it my best shot v's France, & hope for the best

This is it - the final match for qualification or not

The match v's France will be tough - & I'll certainly need some luck on my side to get anything from the game

The other fixture involving the USA maybe close - so who knows what will happen

Bensted!

Sorry guys

Poor tactics let England down - & we suffered a heavy defeat

All down to the USA now to get the draw (or more) to qualify

For all there time & support this NT season

A special thank you to tomkellz - for all his support - time & advice, even though he was fully involved with the U20 NT squad

I have really enjoyed my time as NT Coach - & loved every minute of the job

I also appreciate the wiser tactical heads in Sokker England - who gave me nothing but support (even though the tactics were not up to scratch)

Thank you guys – just very sorry we don’t have enough points to guarantee qualification to the World Cup Finals

Have you been able to involve lower level managers?

Tactics at the top level are really crucial, hopefully you have learnt a few lessons.

Yes for sure - it has been a real learning curve (with a long way to go as yet)

The job is fantastic - so I hope someone can come along, & enjoy their time as much as I have

No new lower level Managers involved - unless you count the Asst Coaches who have been really great with their support & help

I fully appreciate your comments about top-level tactics

1st English Coach to fail to take the England Team to the World Cup Finals

Sorry about that - but it wasn't through lack of effort or enthusiasm

At the next election - I can only enthuse that the job is great fun & very enjoyable - & I hope we have loads of English Managers having a go
