Subject: [nt] The Apprentice

As we are now out of the World Cup, I will obviously be handing over the NT job at the end of the season and will not be standing again.

What I am proposing to do is to run an apprentice style scheme with the NT. I will send the relevant player info through to interested parties, and they will send me:

1. Team lineups
2. Tactics (by copying and pasting every screen shot and emailing it to me).

Obviously I can only do this with the backing of the managers who I have player info on, and if there is enough interest from people that may be interested in the job.

This will be open ONLY to English users. If everyone agrees, or enough people show interest in taking the apprenticeship style role it will go ahead. I won't be starting this until two weeks (as next week will be an unofficial 3rd place game against Hrvatska).

If users specifically do not want their players shown to any candidate, let me know. Also, candidates can remain anonymous if they wish.

id guess if it goes ahead, the apprentice is an almost dead cert for the job.

id be interseted, but i think ill be starting uni when the latter end of next season is taking place, and so i dont want more responsibilty

Ideally I'd be looking for a different person each week.

Then at the end of the season I can put my Alan Sugar mask on and say "You're fired" etc ;).

Which is why I've put the disclaimer that people can decline to have their players shown if wanted.

I'm quite happy to have mine shown. If you can't trust any of the potentials, one of whom could be the England manager, then there is no point trying to get them to be internationals.

Could you not create a squad of plays, with similair stats (tho not identical) and different names?

Actually, that's a pretty good idea.

I'll create a "special" database with each player only allocated a number. Although ultimately it will mean that they know the skills of those who play, but it will reduce the amount that are known.

But in the end they would know what number's what by who plays anyway.

True, but it would keep more people happy, and not give away player skills when it isn't needed.

I'm happy for my players' stats to be shown...oh.

Alan Sugar would never fire himself :P.

But he would try to make himself appear like a great guy by advertising the fact that his commercial fees go to charity.

You won't be doing any commercials will you gibbage?

Hadn't considered that, but it may be worthwhile. I'll donate to the special "mr_gibbage charitable trust".
