after quite a bit of thinking i've decided to run for the main NT this season. i've loved managing the u21's for the last 4 seasons, but feel that it is time for a change. i believe it's a great time for someone to come in to the main NT, with a season of friendlies to hopefully improve our ranking before the next set of qualifications.
i believe that i have the tactical ability, and the enthusiasm needed to run England's NT successfully. my goals for the NT would be to simply improve our ranking, and ensure that our best players aged 22-27 are still being trained how we want them to be, as to ensure our NT gets stronger to keep up with the top national teams.
this season is the perfect time for this, as we can choose our opponents. i would aim to get friendlies with teams close to or even above our ranking which i think we could beat comfortably which will improve our ranking massively, therefore giving us better groupings in qualification. i've managed this with the u21's over the last few seasons, taking us from around 30 to 22, closing in on 20. it's not something that will improve over night, but with a season or 2 of good results it will improve.
also, a lot of the players that i managed in my first or second seasons at u21 are now playing in the NT, or are close to NT standards like Watcham, Duffield and Hagan so i'm already familiar with the players that we will be looking to in the future.
i have shown a wide variety of tactics during my time managing the u21's, and even more tactics will be available with a wider choice of players such as better wingers, and attacking midfielders/split strikers.
i really hope that our users would be willing to give me a chance with our main NT, after a successful spell with the u21 team. i'd be happy to answer any questions anyone has about tactics, players, or random nonsense that they'd like to know :p

Where do you think England should be ranked?
Even though NCFC's reign was disappointing in the form he didn't qualify for the WC, he did at least get a few more people involved which hasn't been the case for a while. Is this something you would look to continue, or do you see the NT as a more 1 person role?

i think we should be aiming for top 20 in the long term, although that will take many seasons of good results. i would aim to get us back in the top 32 for next seasons qualifiers to give us a slightly easier group.
although i ran the u21's mostly on my own, i realise there is a much bigger pool of players for the NT, so would be happy for the same people to carry on scouting, but i would make the decisions of tactics and player selection on my own.
