hi everyone, i've been thinking of whether to run for election again this season, and i have decided to do so. the past season hasn't been a good one for me in sokker, with a lot less time than i had originally anticipated i would have, but i should get more free time from the end of this month onwards.

so why should i keep the job after a relatively poor season?
i would like a chance to have a go with the team in a proper season with fully competitive games, rather than just friendlies all season.
our team is relatively young, with a lot of our players around 25 or 26 with time to still improve further. especially the defenders and strikers, where we have some very promising players.
the aim for the season would obviously be to get us to the world cup for the following season, but to also keep using the younger players where possible to start building a strong team for the future.
at the moment our team is not capable to compete with the top countries, so it is important to focus on the younger players from 22-25 to make sure that they keep getting trained to their full potential in order to give us a bigger pool of players to choose from in the future.
this is a long term plan, but i would like to try and make sure that our players carry on being fully trained to make our NT stronger for many seasons to come.

any questions would be welcome.

Good Tom, good luck.

English users on the decline, need an English based NT coach in my opinion.

Got my vote

Glad to see you running :)

my question to you is where should we be aiming to be in the world rankings. Not right now, but in about 5 seasons time if we take this plan that you were referring to in you're opening speech.

Im gonna vote for you , i want a english manager, and i want to be it soon , maybe should of this season. you have been playing sokker for a year odd longer than me , i would like to take over the team when my player Kirk Vale makes the squad ideally! i could take over from you tomkellz we have simular ideas for the well being of the England football team.

As you have stood relatively late after a fair few people have voted, what do you feel you have to offer which will persuade people to vote for you instead of a candidate they have already voted for?

thank you to those who said i had their vote :) much appreciated.

i think we should be aiming to get into the top 32 in order to get into the 2nd seeding pot for future qualifying groups. at the moment, i'm not sure how much higher we could push. i think it largely depends on ensuring the proper training of our players, as we need to make the most of the players we have, as we don't have as big a pool of players to choose from as other nations.

as what i touched on in reply to daza's question, i am looking to do much more than just what happens on the pitch. obviously i will try my best to deliver the results wanted by our users, which for this season, would be world cup qualification, but this is the same as all the other candidates will say.
as previously stated i want to ensure our players get the best training. This will be a difficult job though, due to our declining user numbers, the fees that good 22+ yo's cost, and the overall reluctancy of managers to keep basing their training plans on older players.
i have notcied that a lot of our good u21 players don't make it to the senior NT, and i think it's because the managers of those players are left alone whilst they're of no use to the NT, and the problem isn't noticed until it's too late.
to deal with this, i would try to keep in full contact with the managers of these players, and put a lot of time into trying to get the best from our players for the future. i am also familiar with a lot of these players or managers from my time as the u21 manager, and i think i have a very good idea of which players to look at, and how our players should be shaped for our NT's future performance.

if there's anything else you want me to talk about, or elaborate on then i'd be happy to do so, tom :)

Under your management England have continued to slide down the NT rankings.

16. Scotland (54 Users)
38. England (354 Users)
39. Ireland (53 Users)
48. Wales (22 Users)

Our last two games have been 6-0 defeats to Serbia & Scotland.

I haven't seen a match thread for a NT game for ages.

What would you do this season that you haven't to date to turn around the decline?

What ranking do you think England could / should be under a top manager & do you think your able to achieve this?

i have a lot more spare time from the end of this month, so that will mean i can spend more time getting updates, scouting opponents, and making tactics, which should lead to improved results.

we were very unlucky today against Scotland. we had more shots, possession was fairly equal, and the ball was in their half more than ours. for us to score 0 from 12 shots and them to score 6 from 10 is really unlucky, especially since we had our best 2 strikers today for the first time this season. we deserved to lose the Serbia game, but again the conversion rate of their strikers agan was pretty high.

i'm not fully sure where we could realistically get, as reaching even the top 20/25 will take a few seasons of continuously good results. a top 32 place would be a priority for now in order to give us a better seeding for groups.

Would you say we have a better squad than Scotland (ranked 16th)?
2012-09-16 08:36:15
Honestly i think you are right, the result is harsh on you, the ball was in our half because we played low defence and you played high defence, we built on counters and it worked well because all of our shots (and about 5 times last second tackles) where clear one on one chances i think, you also had some good chances but our keeper was at his best and the players gave it all..

I think your NT is missing some spirit.. you should start shouting more on the players..
;-)

hard to give a full answer as i don't know their players skills, but looking at average marks, and values then i'd say our squads are fairly similar.

Good luck Tom - I hope you win the election, & get England to the next World Cup Finals

Sorry to see you not re-elected

You certainly deserved a fair chance to take England to the WCF's
2012-09-24 14:21:08
Sorry to see you not re-elected

Clearly not that sorry if you voted for yourself.
