Subject: »[nt][u21]National teams

I must say that I like your long term plan...but I think last match we lost due to tactics. What I have noticed so far...by experimenting with my club and also at U21 NT level:

1. I used to worry about goal scoring when I made my tactics ---> wrong.
2. Concentrate on not receiving any...blocking the opposition.
3. Concentrate on covering the midfield ---> make sure your mids are doing it all...defense and offense nut as much...let them pass more then getting close to the opposing box.
4. When it gets to attack make sure your strikers are not caught offside but do not pull them too back as they won't get close enough to be dangerous. Your attack has maximum 3 players: 2 finishers and 1 wing.

Any experiments outside the normal orders DO NOT WORK!...like playing midds as side defenders or wingers as Strikers...or concentrate on wide play...NO...make the tactic look as normal (not meaning the tactic called normal) as you can...nothing special and you will get the best results!!!

I could have played all 21yo's and won that last game but i thought i'd win with our side (been playing 1-3 21yo's) but was undone by 1 of my own trained 'Mbambo' Southend player, says it all (if i can do it....)

Maybe it's not the tactic because as i've said to everyone else look at Mexico i'd maybe of won that (1-0 up 65 minutes in) if Metson didnt get sent of, plenty of chances, South Africa's manager is a bit tasty, He said he beat you 5-3 last season with Hong Kong, and that was with the great bunch of 21yo's we had!

Our strikers are slow with poor stamina we have 1 decent outfield 20yo player never been in form.

The fastest striker we have has always been in tragic form and unsatisfactory stamina but i am now forced to play him because there is no other option...

Ok i have decided to play 5 at the back after our next game.

Guys! We need to work together to put things right, we are on the same side after all.
We are obviously agreed that things aren't right otherwise why would this conversation have arisen in the first place.

Instead of getting into "who did what to who etc.". Shouldn't we discuss ways in which we want to move forward as one. Then we can manage our expectations of what results are acceptable and what results aren't and even if we care about results for the moment depending on what direction we want to take?

So who wants to go first?
What suggestions have people got as to what we want to do with our U21s?

Said it all above and i'm doing it, but i will play 5 at back after the next game because our defenders are better.

I noticed i made a very slight mistake within my tactic with the placing of the 2 forwards when the ball is with the defenders in the 2nd squares (5)

A winger that cant defend cant drop back, and 1 that can does. like a wing back that cant pass or has much pace cant advance to far up the wing but 1 who can does.

All of my other games i've played with mostly U20's (as little as 1 x 21yo in some games) but as they are very weak a few 19yo's and they struggle, if i'd of played u21 matches id of done well... but this is friendlies & you surely have to help your more important players through...

I am hoping for a 3-0 victory tonight :) let's hope, i have ironed some cracks out (i should not have lost to South Africa what ever the weather, let's say i under estimated them and over estimated us)

I feel confident with our 2 x 21yo's in form...

Played alot lot lot better but didnt finsh chances , Cunliffe got injured on the minute he was going to be subbed :(

I did have some floors in my tactic recently as i changed it since your match, i was asking a little too much of a player with low stamina also, but as i keep saying it's the 20yo's and that's what has cost me games, i now refuse to give up and hope to finish top 48 somehow, there was much to like in the stats with my last game :)

No petty talk req, I know u are passionate about the u21's and I hope it is noticed but q had his legacy and done well,he has got his hands full with Canada and me and others wish him well, when I was Scotland u21 coach ,Canada had a decent squad. As tcd has said, the way is now forward....we have another passionate u21 coach, let's get behind him. And bring our youth forward.

What is this about me? I manage Canada and I like it...I have no interest in getting England back as I want to see Mansid in a WC first :)...and I want to play the final vs England :)).

I supported MANSID in his campaign...and I still do! I will grow and try to get my youth in the U21 soon :)

Thanks Qstarw, qualifying will be very difficult, but with some luck i might just get there...

WOW Lorre ..looks like I got England to another WC :))... think about it... because I allow you to manage England... we qualified ... so I did it :)))
