I felt we did enough to win all 3 of our last U21 'Group N' matches without our best mid with about 4 or 5 x 21yo's , not bad don't you think?

Our keeper has thrown it away 3 times in those games, & luck was against us in all 3 games but i am more than happy with our progress it's clearly evident if you have watched any of the games.

I think we will get 1 draw and 2 wins or with a 'bit of luck' all 3 wins with my remaining games, then we will start to beat alot of teams next season as we will have better players :)

Perhaps in match when England loose points was some unluck, but what i and Qstarw say, is that you can improve more by tactics. If you can look at my last match, you can see how i won the game by tactic. (the begining of season i don't have acces to internet, and i lose some matches)

aurel I will not have a view on the tactics...he can play all players on the sideline if he brings the results. Lets let him do his job...as he knows best and with his tactical choices and just hope he takes the right decisions. If he will ask for help...then we can start to go crazy!

^The above is at it again^ mr tactic if you notice my very last match below then look at the age of the squad i put out in that match ;)

Southend FC 3 All Blacks FC 2

48% Possession 52%
60% Play in the half 40%
12 Shots 12
0 Fouls 2
0 Yellow cards 0
0 Red cards 0
5 Offsides 0
57.3 average mark 62.5
excellent Shooting excellent
solid Passing very good
excellent Defending excellent

Not bad eh? must be a decent tactic :)

Also look at Oglander (All Blacks Keeper) the England number 2 Goal Keeper aged 22! he is worth 3 million i put 3 past him :)

Why are you bringing Qstarw into it? he has said nothing but my tactic is good now, where have you been ;)

All your doing is loosing votes :)

It's been a fantastic week for me, Summerfield (& England U21's) & Pirog what with there hattricks

Get to the prem, then you'll get a lesson ;)

All in good time.. i am aiming for 2 or 3 seasons, i would get hammered with my young side, they need to grow abit, it's kind of nice cos i can almost play a similar side to the U21's & you can't train England U21's in the prem properly, unless you want to loose most games.
2015-02-05 13:51:47
I suppose it takes 2 or 3 seasons before you start to see improvements, then it hopefully will be a production line of lovely U21 players... just had a 19yo Defender from nowhere, he'll be knocking on the door in no time, thats 2 x Magical defenders (i no decent sides have Divines at the back) we never had up till now & they are 1 x 20yo 1 x 19yo :)

The 19yo will make Divine by the time he's 21 i'm sure :) thanks to the owner of Tyerman [artdan]

Taken to divine at 21, in my book is wasted training. U21s don't really need above brill/magical as far as defending skill goes.
2015-02-05 14:16:56
why? many teams have outstanding pace divine defence, do you feel brilliant pace brilliant defence is better than outstanding pace and unearthly defence, i feel the latter is better for the 2 center backs, and maybe brilliant wing backs with more other skills...
2015-02-05 14:29:35
If a player hits divine at 21, they will inevitably random pop to super divine by 22/23 meaning they will at various points get wasted training.

Balanced players are always better than lop sided mono skilled players. Would take the brill x2 any day. Still this is all theoretical as I know there isn't vast choice for these kind of dilemas with the England U21s, it is why teams like Romania can over power just through a more vast range of options.
2015-02-05 14:57:02
Yes that seems logical, you see other teams players by owning them, and get transfixed on replication.

Magical (beginning of the season) & Unearthly max by the middle to end if a important season if possible for the 2 x 21yo center backs and ask kindly they don't train defence again for a fair bit.
2015-02-05 15:20:26
I would go with the pace as well, but Lorre thinks I am too obsessed with pace so may be take my thoughts with a pinch of salt ;-)
2015-02-05 17:29:11
guess it's all about how they are positioned?

my 21YO's are well balanced and rather high pace, so I have "Always" played them in a high position on the field (I Think it put more preassure on opponents).
"Next generation" (19-20 YOs) have high def skills and low pace so playing those guys high positioned vs really fast scorers would be "hara-kiri" - so from next season I will play a lower DEF-line and try to meet the opponents face-to-face, in that case they use their def-skills more and are not so depended by pace.

But I don't hink anyone could say "that is better than...." all that matters are spelled - positions and fingerspitzgefuhle :)

Good Luck my friend! :)
2015-02-05 18:08:36
Yes that's what various people were telling me to do, push my defence up field more so i tried it and then i got beat proper easily a few times and realised, i no the players skills & should'nt have listened.

I was willing to try other peoples thoughts as mine did'nt seem to be working, i realise now the results were just around the corner the players were to blame (you can't have low pace and lower defender skill) even if i had trusted my abilities more for those few games i don't think it would have made much difference this season.

I am glad mr gibbage let me no his opinion, which in turn stops me being so obssesed trying to get unearthly/divine center backs, that's too 1 dimentional (can't play offside aswell with slower defenders that you would get if training all that defence)
2015-02-06 00:02:51
when results are going wrong way it's easy maybe to listen to others, but you have all players monitored and know their abilities, something that the criticicers don't :)

just believe in yourself and your players, I know that you have a great future with the coming generations and will be succeed :)

Both you and I will have to good U21's from next season to be hangin' down round 50th in the World ranking, so come on mansid! I will race you - first U21 (England or Sweden) in top-20 will have some pints of Guiness supplied of the other?
Deal? :)

((("Some useless observations btw;
HIGH def line, opponent will be in offsides as long as your DEF has stamina - when they are tired they will be positioned to low and suspend the offsides :/

You will allow 3-4 times/match when the opponents strikers will come neutral against your goalie and your def's are WAY behind him.

BUT in about 50% of times when they run from almost half of the field they are so exhausted that their shots will go either on your goalie or outside the goalpost

as I said ONLY observations - not science or facts! )))

BTW2:
I will - with respect of, and as a tribute to all 21YO coaches who had trained their players for some seasons now - play ONLY 21YO and no minors (for the first time!), vs Tunis.
Last match when we had a mixed 18-21 we won by 11-0 but now... maybe 4 - 2?
I hope we'll win anyway, but you will probably close up (pass us?) in the ranking!?! ;)

for me pace and tech are 2 very strong attributes when looking at u21 players but looks like we are going in the right direction good to see POSITIVE advice taken and applied where needed. in my opinion another good week...... (so far)
