Subject: English team ratings II getting nearer to Prem?

I was looking at the England average team ratings list, and to me it makes interesting reading. It looks like the gap between the Prem and II league has gone.

Ok, we've had cup games, but if you look at the spread below, makes interesting reading.

-> Prem teams ranked: 1,2,3,7,9,10,15,30
-> Best teams from each II league: 4,5,12,13
-> One III league team: 19 (what are you doing in III!!!)

So what do you think? Closing up due to stronger set of II teams, or is the Prem weaker than it used to be...??

Any side that comes up from II generally finishes 5-8th. I think as time has gone by there has become more of these "yoyo" sides, but none realistically can challenge the top spots in the prem.

I do think overall team quality is probably slightly down from the peak a year or so ago, but that is more as top teams have gone that have been around a long time then not being replaced. I'm sure all 8 teams in the prem at one point could bring in 70+ ratings, atm only 4 of 8 can.

Unfortunately I don't know of a way of checking the historical average ratings of leagues to see what the trend is. It would be ace, for example to see a long term graph of Prem, II and III leagues to see how the average ratings have changed....

Unfortunately the archive only holds the tables, and each individual game.

I'll have a think on whether there is anywhere else we can go....

I must say that I will be the first one that will have an average rating of over 90 and play in the 4th or 3rd league :)).

There used to be a bug that did allow that to happen. Probably fixed by now, you would hope at least.

There is a link somewhere to said match (I think matches), they are odd games to watch!

As for the topic, they will be fairly accurate but personally I have been playing a weakened side in the league as I chase a cup run. With a full strength team I'm in the top 6.

With some top sides leaving in recent seasons it has really weakened the Prem so no doubt those II teams are chasing the top sides

As Mcoi states though, no real chance for them to get in the top 4 any time soon.

They are 1 year at the most old. I'll have to see if I can dig them out.

As for the wrestny one in 19th; he's been here since the dawn of time but is too weak tactically to push on.

Blimey! I have a LONG way to go just to sniff the bottom of that list ... I only managed 35.1 at the w/end.
