Makntak [del] to All
Qstarw alerted me to this election and I don't think he'd anticipated that I'd actually apply for the job, but here I am, throwing in a hat. I don't claim to be an active community member, far from it, the England forum has seemed dormant for a long time and I simply haven't checked back in. In fact, I only continue to play the game because I love my team. I also think that my stasis is because I've never got involved in the financial side of the game, I manage to get by season to season, but I've not been on the transfer market for ages, I can't afford to. It costs me all of my income on wages and coaches.
BUT I see my candidacy as a means to spark new life into my enjoyment of the game by having something else to involve myself with. My own team has never got beyond Div III - I've been runner-up 3 times amd come 3rd 3 times, but never won the playoff game and I just plod along trying to train up my youngsters into 1st teamers and maintain my position.
I really enjoy that aspect of the game, training youths and I guess that might be a useful asset. If I were to be elected, it would give me reason to get active in the forums and try to generate more interest and involvement form English managers.
I can't claim to be the best qualified, but I'd make a strong fist of the job and try to involve more players in the process. No man is an island, and I don't suppose I could do it alone. Hey, I'm keen if nothing else :)

Well it's all pretty quiet in this Election so far (bar some shouting and posturing). Just bumping my thread to see if anyone looks and wishes answers to my application.

Hi chap,

you seem to prefer a fairly defensive approach with your own team. Would you be following the same approach with the England U21s or would you do something else?

Regards,
Troy

Hats, fists, Islands? You seem quite keen on cliches, so my question is simple: What's your favourite footballing cliche?

My tactics would be built around the strengths of the players and my defensive approach with my own team is really built around my training regime - I'm trying to bring a crop of defenders through. What's more, I only have 1 striker right now, so I play out of a 5-4-1.

Some seasons ago, I used to run 3-4-3 and 4-3-3 and I've also got 3-5-2, 4-5-1, and 4-4-2 formation tactics that I've used. Of course, with my own team, I am always restricted to some extent by the personnel I have a t any given time. I imagine that there would be quality running through the whole squad of the international team allowing much greater flexibility, bearing in mind that Tactical Discipline is an important consideration.

Haha. Well spotted. Yes, I do like a cliche, and I'm not afraid to use them.

Probably anything that Mark Lawrenson says, he's a living, breathing football cliche, but he makes me want to smash my TV, so that's no good.

Other contenders would be:

"I'm just glad we got the three points"

or

"That's football"

but they are stock replies in post match interviews, and not cliches, as such.

So the winner has to be:

"They think it's all over. It is now!"
