Subject: Bargain or Robbed? You decide

2008-05-06 13:13:47
I am in a similar dilemna in that i had planned to train defender for a season next season as about half my squad need it...and bought in quite a few trainees that fit that training...but also the same sort of amount of players need pace, badly, and i don't want to leave it too late so have decided to go for a season of pace.

Could you do a season of pace and then sell/continue to train that player when he's 23/24?

Thems the breaks. Just get on with a dedicated training schedule and work to your talented players. Ask your self what they need and don't worry about the others so much. Sure selling for profit is important but don't lose sight of the bigger picture. If you don't make much on a player, don't worry as you will soon be producing great players through your training.

Cheers guys. ;)

I do have some great trainees coming through but they are a bit light weight I think for the first team just yet.

@DJ I could well keep training this guy next season, plus he'll be a bit of a handful for III teams together with Herbski I think. His talent is about average I think so I may not need to sell so soon, but the cash when I sell him will be handy to strengthen other areas of the team.

I have some ok Juniors to come through next season I hope which should help cash flow a bit too.

So then, how many goals have your strikers scored this season?
2008-05-06 14:37:28
Jelle Chevalier has scored 31 goals. For someone else. But I still consider him to be one of mine :)

Sell.
2008-05-06 21:02:01
Romuald Gogola , age 16
value: 19 800 £, wage: 360 £
incredible form

tragic stamina
adequate pace
weak technique
poor passing
tragic keeper
hopeless defender
poor playmaker
average striker

took a big gamble paying 50k for him... training pace til end of season then tech... if talented... think it was probably bad judgement due to high levels of morphine from my patch!
2008-05-06 21:06:40
Like you've said, it's just a gamble really, and £50k isn't really that bad.

He's played in 3 games already though...lets hope that wasn't direct training and a talent check.

Robbed I paid £2 for this guy:

Marcello Lizi, age: 16
value: 19 950 £, wage: 330 £
club: AFC Denton Sharks, country: Italia
unearthly form, poor tactical discipline

adequate stamina, tragic keeper
unsatisfactory pace, poor defender
weak technique, adequate playmaker
weak passing, unsatisfactory striker

But we are all entitled to our opinions but I think you have been robbed.

edited: I forgot to show his improvements

Improvements:

+1 pace
+4 stamina
+1 passing
+1 striker

You were robbed aswell
2008-05-06 23:39:17
ken, its true that i may have been robbed, but your comparisson is meaningless.

the difference is that mine has the 3 reasonable level skills required to be a striker trainee. if he pops twice in pace by the start of the season he will make back the money. if he is talented he will be worth a lot in a couple of seasons. my head coach has 5 unearthly skills plus incredible stamina, so i have a high chance of randoms. he will get pace & tech until the end of next season, then striker for a season. at 19 he could be very tasty if talented. you on the other hand need to train pace, tech, passing, and defender to start to shape a midfielder. and i doubt you have a head coach unearthly in all of these. you will not make back your 2 quid.

I am training midfielders, and by then I should have a lot of money to get a decent coach. With his talent he will improve a lot, but if your 16 yo isnt talented then the coaches would have little effect on him to be honest, this is my head coach:

Adrian Rossell, age: 65,
wage: 5 430 £
club: AFC Denton Sharks, country: England
very good coach

Training effectiveness:
outstanding of stamina, unsatisfactory of keeper
unearthly of pace, excellent of defender
very good of technique, solid of playmaker
excellent of passing, average of striker

my coach isnt the best but by Lizi's pops shows that he is a talented player and with better coaches, he will be better by 18-19.

How do you know he is a talented player, he has had zero full pops so far!
2008-05-06 23:49:37
His old manager told me he has 3-4 weeks talent in junior school. Thats all I was told.

ken, your head coach has 1 unearthly... in pace. that leaves you very little hope of randoms. you will need a new coach for each of the other skills. and you will need to train them for 2 seasons each. ken, you've kenned up again!
2008-05-06 23:53:58
...and the old manager was lieing.
