Subject: Bargain or Robbed? You decide

2008-05-11 18:10:10
oops didn't see he was 19, so a great price
2008-05-11 18:10:41
what level of pace are you reckoning on by 21/22?
2008-05-11 18:15:19
Brilliant/Magical pace I reckon by that kind of age I would think. I can train to divine pace if need be, its just a case of training his pace until I can't see anymore random pops in tech or striker occurring.

I am really hoping for some luck and I can get a random pop in Tech or Striker very soon. If I get that I can train him until the second random pops, otherwise I will probably have to sell after both have random popped once.

o you see him as a starting player for you? Cos I would of felt that you would be looking for better just in case you make it to the prem
2008-05-11 18:19:37
Nope, he isn't a starter player for me at the moment, however in around one/two seasons time he could potentially be good enough.

I see him as an investment, it will be possible to get him to premiership standard in just over a couple of seasons I would say, by then he will be something like:

Magical Pace
Magical Tech
Outstanding Striker

thats true and in a few seasons I feel you will be unstoppable but if you happen to go up (which looks likely, don't want to jinx you!) will you need to change anything around?
2008-05-11 18:25:22
Well, I will perhaps need to change things around, but its not going to happen!

Infact, I have been re-freshing my squad a fair bit this season and it has largely been a case of selling an older player, and buying in a younger player who has more potential, but is currently not as good.

My strategy has always been to plan for the long-term, and I will not panic and try and buy short-term success if/when I promote.
2008-05-11 18:26:37
I felt like I might of done that this season but as all my midfielders are 22 then I will be fine in the long term as well. Just gotta hope I can secure 4th cos otherwise anyone can beat anyone in the playoffs
2008-05-11 18:26:46
Of course, this attitude is summed up by the fact I just spent 3.8 million on a reserve!! Infact, it wouldn't surprise me if my reserves will soon by worth more than my first XI!
2008-05-11 18:46:27
Being your player phil, he is now officially worth 4.5 million, so he is a bargain by 700,000 pounds.

I am insanely jealous of this player.
2008-05-11 18:50:35
Well, the way I see it by the time he is aged 21/22, he will be better than the player you bought for 4.5 million a couple of weeks ago. It requires a short term loss as I have to train him to that point, but I figure its worth it.

Maybe by that point I will have to claim all my players are worth 6 million quid ;-)
2008-05-11 18:55:20
robbed anyway :)
2008-05-11 18:58:27
I think you made a decent bargain despite the price. You will get your money back once you finish training him. Bragain mate, decent buy.

And that's why I'm insanely jealous. You seem to have found a way of training a striker or two to make money, I tried it with 3 or 4 million pound plus 22 yo players and it didnt work, only the hideoudly young and talented players will sell on for more.
2008-05-11 20:54:30
There are loads of players that will sell for more, if you are training a player they really should gain in transfer value. I think your issue was that you didn't train them for long enough.

a season ?
