Well that was a fun way to blow 3.6 million... :

At 17:03 today I bought :

Ryszard Hubski, age: 20
value: 98 550 £, wage: 1 005 £
club: Norwich City Nil, country: Polska
solid form, unsatisfactory tactical discipline

very good stamina, tragic keeper
very good pace, weak defender
very good technique, unsatisfactory playmaker
good passing, excellent striker

For 606k. I expected someone to come in for him, but it turns out I probably overpaid. Speaking of which...

At 17:06 I bought :

Marco Antônio Benedito, age: 22
value: 255 300 £, wage: 2 280 £
club: Norwich City Nil, country: Brasil
incredible form, poor tactical discipline
bookings:

adequate stamina, hopeless keeper
incredible pace, poor defender
formidable technique, good playmaker
weak passing, outstanding striker

For a shade over 2 million. I'm training tech for the foreseeable, interspersed occasionally with striker and passing. a few weeks of stamina training, and he almost might be worth the money.

At 17:10, I bought :

Fabrice Guei, age: 22
value: 126 450 £, wage: 1 605 £
club: Norwich City Nil, country: Schweiz
unsatisfactory form, poor tactical discipline

excellent stamina, tragic keeper
formidable pace, incredible defender
solid technique, average playmaker
unsatisfactory passing, average striker

for a shade over 1 million. The occasional passing training should hopefully get him up to weak passing by the middle/end of next season, assuming he's high unsatisfactory at that age, and assuming also that he's reasonably talented.

So, have I taken all leave of my senses ?

If they're bad buys, I can always stick them on the list week 2 or 3 of next season and try my luck again I suppose...

No.2 is fine, he will turn into an absolutely immense striker and could be impossible to stop

I actually think you did alright on no.1 but it depends how talented he is

and 3 probably overpaid considering you probably won't train him enough
2007-02-12 17:47:21
I thought at the time that if I trained his technique up to formidable, I could re-list him at a profit. But he is 23 soon... Hmm. Oh well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad :)
2007-02-12 17:48:33
The only thing that really worries me about no.1 is unsatisfactory playmaker. Talented players don't generally have skills that low by the time they're late 20. Should have thought about that before I bought him :).
2007-02-12 17:50:14
depends at what age he came out as well as what level if it was say 19 and tragic then he could be talented and it would be fine
2007-02-12 18:09:34
I calculated back and he came out as 18y old.
I would say, low talent.

I thing you did fine on Nr2 and Nr3 is okay.
2007-02-12 18:14:17
Don't forget he spent most of his time at 2 league IV teams, they most probably didn't have a main coach with lots of pm.

1st one isn't too bad. Stamina is dire though which will pretty much mean he'll be a waste of time in the first team for a while.

If the 2nd one was Polish, he would have been a waste of money, as he is, he could have NT potential so worthwhile.
2007-02-13 18:18:58
1st guy isn't gonna make a particularly good striker :P
2007-02-13 21:54:33
i thought he would be a defensive striker :D
2007-02-14 07:17:38
i think it'll be more worth while flogging him off once you finish with the pace and move onto striking...
2007-02-15 09:18:28
From this:
hopeless stamina, hopeless keeper
average pace, average defender
average technique, adequate playmaker
weak passing, hopeless striker

To this (in two weeks):

hopeless stamina, hopeless keeper
adequate pace, average defender
average technique, adequate playmaker
average passing, hopeless striker

Feeling slightly better.....
