Looks a good buy to me, I was watchng him for a while.
2008-10-07 20:52:48
i was actually surprised to get him for that price and with a single bid about 20 mins before deadline, was happy but suspicious
2008-10-07 20:55:18
Even if he's told you bullshit about the talent you'll not lose money, there have been a few bargains today.

he had a graph

Well I finally lost my mind and paid more than 1m for a player, got this guy for £3m, is part trained in both Pace and Tech. Apparently close to randoms in PM and Passing....have I been robbed?

wow 3 millions!!

wouldn't have a clue as i never bought such players, looks pricy to me but he has loads of high skills

he will improve your team big time
2008-10-07 21:42:47
Well he is due some big pops and I should be able to take him to double Magical, he could be a nice player in my team I hope. ;)
2008-10-07 21:52:45
Needs more pm to be worth it :P
2008-10-07 23:30:57
Well he is pricy but the up side is that he will run the midfield, centre mid or wing. So a bit of good buy not bargain nor robbed but will be good for your team.
2008-10-07 23:36:36
I think marginally robbed. Passing and pm a bit low really.
2008-10-07 23:40:08
A little robbed I would say, I have a similar, but better player who I would have sold to you for only a little more.
2008-10-08 00:20:36
Well as I say he is trained in part to Magical in both Pace and Technique, plus he is due randoms in passing and pm.

So if that happens surely he will be worth more?

I nearly spent £3.6m erlier but luckily pulled out otherwise I would have had no money for my final defender......its all a learning process and this was my first time with serious money, if its a little robbed then I will not be too disappointed so long as he makes a difference to my side.

To be honest I am not sure it was robbed as I have been tracking mids for quite a few days now and the prices are obscene on decent mids right now....one of the reasons why I think I will train them eventually.

My initial opinion was "slightly overpaid", but I didn't have the confidence to say that as I'm less of an expert on high-value players than you are!

What you have is a pacey player who is hard to tackle, but where will you use him? On the wing seems best, but his pm/passing combo means his crossing accuracy and timing won't be great, but he should have enough opportunities to prove useful. A more central position exposes his lack of ball-winning ability, and you may be frustrated that he opts for a misplaced pass rather than running through mids that lack defending. Should he find himself in shooting positions - don't expect much. :)

It's all relative though. I don't buy any of this "What you're training determines whether it's a bargain" malarkey, the question is whether you could've found a cheaper alternative, or better player for that price. I reckon it's possible, but that's because I'd personally prefer a little more pm/passing/defending and accept less pace & tech. If you're happy - who cares?!

Is Formidable really that low for passing?
2008-10-08 01:17:51
For a £3m mid, a little, yes.

For one of my mids - no. :(

Someone more experienced can undoubtedly clarify this better. My best passer, Garnham, is mid-level Incredible, and there's a noticable difference from Formidable. I think higher is desirable for wingers especially, and I long for the day when my crosses stop threatening the corner flags (it's getting closer...).
