Subject: Bargain or Robbed? You decide

I had a defender with formidable play all season and I came 2nd in the league - I don't think you need divinity across the back by a long stretch
2009-01-14 15:55:41
Fman said a while back that no-one really has a high technique striker in the Prem, I guess it's all pace. The magical * 3 striker I sold last season might have caused some of your defences some problems, if only he played for a decent team.

I have been considering the merits of splitting my squad a little more to be honest. So something like 9 youngsters, then 13 first XI quality players.

I would still aim to be making money on all players, but would see the first XI players value on the pitch a little more than just in the profit returned.

Essentially I would make my reserves worse and first XI better!!

It's what my team's based on though, having trained it high back in the day before moving to midfielders. I wouldn't have won the league with such a pitiful attack and goals scored, if it wasn't for having a daddy defence and keeper.

I have a few high technique strikers, two with brilliant technique and two with unearthly.

I hope they will do a nice little job ;-)

I understand that, similar to what I've been thinking - pace training really lends itself to that though; it puts you in a good position I think. I guess I've been training too old, to maximise profit in my position (i.e. rotating training, not just pace) perhaps it's better to bump 1 level in each skill and then just sell asap and reinvest.

Bargain or robbed?

I don't know really, I mean if I look at my squad honestly at the moment, I would say that my trainees are not too suited to pace training anymore!!

I have trained pace for a long time, and haven't been able to keep up with renewing trainees quick enough. That means a lot of very fast players, not really who you want as pace trainees going forward!!
2009-01-14 16:03:47
Haven't got a clue Ken, never bought a player like those.
2009-01-14 16:05:38
No... I guess the long-term viability of doing it at an even higher level depends on whether you can buy more developed players who are still young enough to justify pace training - and whether there are enough like that on the market to be able to buy without getting ripped off. Still, so far, you must be making the best per-player per-time trained net profit in England.
2009-01-14 16:07:35
I might be, I should probably be making more though. I know I need to buy younger and slower players than I am currently getting, but just like winning too much!!

Just looked over my squad, its quite worrying. There are only three players with under formidable pace, and they are all recent buys.
2009-01-14 16:08:16
normal prices - but you have been robbed anyway as they will lose skills quickly. Still if you want a short term player then they're OK
2009-01-14 16:09:59
Maybe robbed in the long-term, he could always list a player in a week or two, if it was a bargain he will make money.
2009-01-14 16:10:12
unless you like playing a high line you don't need a divine defender to stop a magical striker, or even a magical defender really
2009-01-14 16:15:18
Depends where the strikers are placed.
