Subject: Bargain or Robbed? You decide

2009-07-11 19:14:18
is the difference between early 16 or 17 and late 16 or 17 but trained that much ?

I guess you'd know if anyone would...

The player you bought has a great talent
But if you are training only pace it is not so worthwile buying him
2009-07-11 19:21:32
I will not just be training pace anymore.

You are not wrong there, but my guy cost 340k less. ;)

Imagine how good your guy could be if he has talent.......but aren't you going to train mids?
2009-07-11 20:00:05
Yep, the plan is to train midfielders.

The remainder of this season will be spent selling off players, that means eeking out the last few pops & will involve some pace & tech training. This will suit the new signings.
2009-07-11 20:06:19
Well I am having the same sort of quandry right now, I need to change a bit myself. Mine will be pace wise though. Or sell everybody and start a fresh......not sure what to do really.

I think your problem is that pace is harder once they get older and in higher levels. I would think you'd be anle to buy mids that are trainable for you and still stay in the prem?

This was Herbski's skills at 16 when I bought him. He had a higher value than your guy, and randomned in most things within a few weeks however.

tragic stamina, tragic keeper
adequate pace, adequate defender
poor technique, unsatisfactory playmaker
weak passing, adequate striker
2009-07-11 20:09:32
Yes I could, but my thinking is that buying in high level non-trainees is just a big drain on resources.

Over time their value is likely to fall quickly & as I really want to be making money that isn't something I want to accept.
2009-07-11 20:11:38
I have no plans to buy & train up a group of players like Herbski as profitable as it might be. It just takes too long, I want big profits & fast.

In a couple of seasons I will cash in the money (in theory).
2009-07-11 20:13:26
Fair enough, it also makes it harder to sell players like Herbski if you have trained them for so long....you get attached to them. ;)
2009-07-11 20:16:33
It does indeed.

I plan to give my theory a go at least for one season. Training pace is still an option, at least so that I can have an entire squad of trainees & judge talent on 16 year old punts.

I'm still undecided on that, it feels a bit of a waste only training 10 players, I would have to make sure I am making very big profits to make that worthwhile. Perhaps passing/defender training could achieve that.
2009-07-11 20:19:23
I expect you could make some huge profits on midfielders with tech, pm, passing and defending. Then sell to pace trainers like your good self. ;)

674k, what do you reckon

Ant Mannington, age: 18
club: Celtic Wanderers, country: England
value: 100 650 £, wage: 1 245 £
very good form, tragic tactical discipline

hopeless stamina poor keeper
solid pace poor defender
poor technique excellent playmaker
solid passing excellent striker

What was his talent?

I think a bargain anyway
2009-07-11 20:22:43
You could indeed, if I picked up some talented 16 year olds & trained defender for a season I would expect to get to a high level (perhaps around outstanding-incredible).

If I was then to list these players at the end of the season while still aged 16 I would imagine most pace trainers would pay a big premium for them.
