Subject: Bargain or Robbed? You decide

Actually, looking at your first 11, I'd be tempted to go and get another 5 million pound striker to go with the 7* guy, and then you'll blitz your league, and be close to Premiership strength.

Mulder is actually better in terms of skills than Von but is terrible form. He still scores goals though ( his best score is 68/69)

the only way to fix form tends to be to sell the player usually. You could get 2-3 mill for him plus the sale of a b team middie ? I've already got that money spent on a 3 * magical striker in decent form on your behalf :) And before you ask, I sold him already !

he is coming back from an injury so will do fine. He also scored more goals/shots than Von did last game. He'll be fine. plus he is worth 4.5mil easily

Pfft like you need advice. ;)

Robbed. Not understanding some of your purchases.

No one ever does!

Anyone else got an opinion?

I've got another one; you sold better players than that. With the money you have, what's the point in that player?
2009-09-21 19:28:20
a couple of randoms while training pace and hope to sell quickly? considering Phil's track record of making money, I certainly wouldn't be so quick to judge his methods

I'm looking to make money from pace training this season.

If I look to buy the best possible players about I will most likely have to over-pay and after around 10% sales tax may not even make my money back.

Clearly I'm happy to buy top players, but only if the price is right...
2009-09-21 19:30:22
He doesn't need to hope and gamble on things with the money he has. He only just found out the talent which is 4 with magical. Let's hope he has proof.

He's doing the opposite of the general ethos most experienced managers agree with and that is buy the best trainees with your income.
2009-09-21 19:31:45
I don't think you're going to make more money buying poorer players for less though, it doesn't make sense.
2009-09-21 19:33:00
Spending 4 million on a trainee doesn't guarantee you will make money. This is especially true when you are training pace which pops relativley slowly, this can reduce the appeal of a player who appeared to have great potential (hence the high price).

Infact you immediately have to sell for 4.4 million just to make you money back...
2009-09-21 19:34:20
I've always thought the multiplier grows with price; anyway, you're the actuarist. Pointless arguement! :o)

The multiplier gets smaller as your purchase price gets higher. I.E. Its far harder to double your money on a 4M purchase than a 400k purchase.

However, in absolute terms, if you can make a 50% profit on two players a more expensive player will give you far more money in absolute terms.
