btw DJ is right (at least in this case) those buys are useless, get a punt on 16yo if anything as with £2 you'll never get anything decent to train

People are trying to help, but I'm not sure you always appreciate that fact.
The 18yo you've just bought has tragic pace... unless you're about to tell me he has sub-4 talent he will take ages to reach very good/excellent pace.
To illustrate the point, my talented 19yo trainee (3.43 talent) popped from tragic pace as follows: 1, 2, 2, 2, 3, - it took him 10 weeks to average pace. And will probably take another 12 weeks to very good pace.
Without talent, your guy will take 26+ weeks (quite possibly 30 weeks) to very good pace - this means he'll be nearly 21 and, if you're extremely lucky, will look something like...
average stamina, tragic keeper
very good pace poor defender
poor technique adequate playmaker
solid passing good striker
(The above also assumes your HC is unearthly in pace and ok in the other skills to increase the chances of random pops)
But even with all this, he really won't be worth much, even relatively.

cheers. this is the sort of post thats relevant so yeah thanks. and yeh my HC is unearthly in pace
Have you considered that once you account for wages and the sales tax you will be left will pretty much zero profit for 2/3 seasons training?
Send me an Sk-Mail if you are interested in a little bit of one-to-one advise. Nothing special, but it should help you to develop within the game a little quicker.
You have passion so thats a plus point, most new users barely log-in.

yeah i noticed about the new users. thanks anyway.
but yeah tbh u cant tell on these players in the transfers how quickly they pop. by the looks of it the 17 yr old was just turfed out straight away from the juniour school. if they are longer than a 5 week pop then i will probs jus sell em. at least im almost certain to make a profit.
On a different tangent......
I used the skills select to get a magical coach for my youth school and ended up shelling out just over 200k for the following.........
Darren Meggison, age: 62
Wage: 21 045 £
brilliant of stamina excellent of keeper
unearthly of pace unearthly of defender
brilliant of technique unearthly of playmaker
unearthly of passing unearthly of striker
Was it worth it?

Its not immediately obvious who will make you money on the transfer market.
For me any new user would be well advised to train a primary skill, I would recommend defender or passing, however if you are willing to accept less trainees strikers or GK could work well for a quick profit to help sort out your finances.
Trainees should be aged 16-17 no older. The exact trainees you should buy vary by position, however for midfielders/defenders I would recommend buying players with the highest total of PM+Passing+Tech+Def+Pace that you can afford for the age. Stick with their training for around two seasons, but be willing to sell off players if they are really untalented, replace with the best trainee you can afford, again aged 16-17 maximum.

Looks like a decent wage, I can't see a problem.
I'd say yes, based on the improvement in talent I experienced when I upgraded from an incredible to magical YC.
Sadly piss-poor distribution and high ages on the said talented trainees has meant it hasn't financially paid off... yet!

I hope I see a big improvement as I have another 3 Ethan likes coming in the next 13 weeks :-) hopefully the sun will shine on me again and some decent skill distribution is had!!
Think this guy was okay as a trainee purchase for 35k........ maybe you guys think otherwise?
Arnold Haushofer , age 17

wage: 555 £
very good form
hopeless stamina, hopeless keeper
adequate pace, hopeless defender
