Subject: Bargain or Robbed? You decide

2010-02-07 22:51:39
3 suspensions ouch. Your injury should be back for next weeks game. Pace wise he should be fine but don't think incred is good enough for prem. Defo will make cash back when sell him imo tho.
2010-02-07 23:00:46
he will be a reserve and will sell probably early next season
2010-02-07 23:11:01
I see what you are saying then. I wasn't trying to doubt you mate, just wanted to hear your opinion on it. I'm rather new to Sokker and especially new to the market when it comes to better more complete players.

I have a guy @ 23
formidable stamina tragic keeper
brilliant pace incredible defender
adequate technique average playmaker
solid passing solid striker

I'm assuming I'd be better off just training defender/pace to magical+ in both of them, then selling off rather than stopping and getting him to magical pace/brilliant defender. Then training say PM/Tech a half season each? I'm training defender atm and was about to switch to pace after this next training update.

Because at the end of next season, he'll be turning 25 looking something like this

formidable stamina tragic keeper
Magical pace brilliant defender
solid technique Good playmaker
solid passing solid striker

Looking for advice basically, since you're saying its really not worth it to train up the secondaries.

It isn't worth it to train up the secondaries in my opinion. The whole reasoning is fairly tricky, but think of the equation in terms of transfer price, I always consider midfielers/defenders in terms of the total of their five skills (PM+Passing+Pace+Defender+Tech).

In almost all cases you can afford a higher total at any given age if you buy the more rounded midfielder.

Now you will probably say thats fine, but these are midfielders and I want some top defenders. Its a logical point, but you have to remember that you should be buying players with training potential. So you can be training the defender skill on the midfielder instead of the secondaries of the defender. Once you reach the same level of defender & pace with the midfielder its near 100% certain that the defender will not yet have caught up in terms of secondary skills - The only case where this may have happened is if you need to train too much pace on the midfielder, it takes ages to get high level pops.

May be easiest to explain with an example:

Stan Mavrocordat

very good stamina tragic keeper
formidable pace magical defender
poor technique average playmaker
average passing weak striker

The above player is currently selling for 3 000 002 $, he may end up selling for more, can never really be 100% sure on market prices. His total midfielder skills is 39.

Its tricky to compare directly with an alternative, so I have made up a player that I think could reasonably be expected to sell for a similar price. His total midfielder skills are 48.

Player B

adequate stamina tragic keeper
formidable pace very good defender
solid technique formidable playmaker
very good passing good striker

If you were to train player B's defender skill it is clear to me that by the time he reaches magical defender he would be a far better all round defender than the first player above who may have received secondary training during the time period.

@roberto - I train from 17-18, and I never go too far into the minus. Also, I believe a triple excellent at 18 will cost much more than a player like Blythe - who should be two excellents and solid by 20 if talented.

@ermejo: Normal at current market, but with high form there is quite some profit to make next season week 3-5.

@mrhfan12289: Phil explained it very well, much better than I:)

And yes rather train those defenders you mentioned in pace and defense and then sell.

decided not to blow too much on a striker but landed this guy for £1.5m... tech is a little lower than ideal but since he replaces either a 3x Outstanding or an Outstanding Striker / Magical Pace / Excellent Tech i see him as a decent upgrade... question is bargain or robbed?

Wiktor Wierzba, age: 28
club: Satellite Poznań, country: Polska
value: 393 450 £, wage: 5 025 £
good form, brilliant tactical discipline
height: 182 cm

formidable stamina hopeless keeper
brilliant pace excellent defender
outstanding technique very good playmaker
solid passing brilliant striker
2010-02-08 18:10:49
Robbed imo.....sorry.
2010-02-08 18:14:19
slightly robbed from me as well. Personal preference for me though is I like higher tech.
2010-02-08 18:14:39
Normal due to sideskills. And for sure a nice improvement for your team.
2010-02-08 18:26:21
Needed more technique for me, side skills are nice on a striker but give me more tech everyday of the week. ;)
2010-02-08 18:28:48
Same, although i think the price is good enough. My striker of the same age has these skills:

formidable stamina hopeless keeper
magical pace excellent defender
brilliant technique adequate playmaker
formidable passing formidable striker

And i wouldn't sell him for £1.5m :o)
2010-02-08 19:22:29
i would say to get incredible + tech on him i would have needed around £500k more ... watched a 3x outstanding aged 28 go for 1 million
2010-02-08 19:44:44
You bought the player therefore I will ALWAYS say robbed. ;)
2010-02-08 20:12:00
i would have thought your sympathies lay with the player
