Well after 9 years of playing this game and putting off getting promoted to the prem, i took the step last season to to get promoted, to just say I have been there. I knew soon as I got to the prem the enjoyment would stop and this post/thought would happen. I have been very disappointed with the development of the game standing still and have been a plus member for each year. But now I either walk away and say good luck to everyone or take a back seat and let the team roll. So why am I posting? I think I would still be happy to log on and do training (enjoy this mostly in the game) and slide down the leagues just to: train - sell - train. Sorry, but I am not interested in training a single player for NT, but would be happy to train 17/18 year olds and then sell at 21-23 and start again. Maybe after 6/7 seasons of this I would get my mojo back and start building from scratch. I don't have much money and have let the team slip with age, but wondered what ideas some of the experienced players believe is the best route? Obviously I am aware defenders gain more training spaces, strikers sell for more and all that... just interested on peoples views

I would just noose around the TL and see what players I can scoop...look for the bargains :)....then make my mind up from a star player on training around his skills...then buy some other players that would need similar training. Whatever you do don't go into keeper training ...we like having you around and that would be no fun at all and might make you give up :)).
Here is a challenge for you...win the prem with u23 players :))

ohhh Paul for some extra thrill try some U21 or NT...that made the game interesting for me :)
Buy 16yo at least adequate in a primary skill and train them for a couple of seasons, than sell and so on.

It would be a shame to see you go - there are few enough players left in England, let alone experienced ones.
The training strategy you describe can certainly be a rewarding one, particularly if you aren't really interested in results.
edit - didn't mean to reply to imann, obviously..

Inded it would be a shame. I've only played him once officially in all that time; in the cup and i won ;)
Definately think about some kind of training regime or something to keep the side ticking over. I am just going through the motions now myself but doing so with just my junior players, which makes things a little more interesting.

Thanks for the thoughts all, Jimmy don't think we have played in a competitive match?

Anyway that is besides the point. Has anyone sold off - rebuilt and just done training, letting the team tick over? Just interested on what they did and what they would do different. Imran 16 year olds is an idea and Qstarw I couldn't win the prem with over 23's let alone under - length of time in game and cash is the key to winning the prem IMO. I have a few mil in the bank and would obviously raise quite a bit from selling my current team, especially keeper and strikers.

Old Evertonians did and actually came back more successful than the first time around. Phil of Phils Hotspurs did it pretty successfully too, until he got bored. His strategy was to sell up and then rebuy a team for less and then train it up. Before his team went he had a team probably worth 50m at peak with similar money in the bank.
My bad, saw the word "cup" and glossed over the "friendly" bit :)
As Mcoi said, sometimes a full clear out and rebuild is more beneficial than making a few changes. Might make you uncompetitive for a few seasons, but it will set you up nicely.

I agree with you and gibbage, i did it; but it all depends on your understanding of what was learned the first time around. I learned so much and knew what I needed to do differently to have a chance of being successful and have longevity. So if you understand what holes you have, what you need to do and then plan around doing that then you can come back stronger, if not then cash will get you so far but perhaps it will not have longevity.
To be honest I do not even consider myself that great at this game, but what i do know well is my strengths and weaknesses.

You just built a fantastic team around stupendous strikers (i think) and nobody seems to have the defences to cope. That was my brief fleeting understanding! :)
Any sell-up and train method does require you to log in regularly and change your team though, something i continually struggle to do! (did it again last night, this time, my worst 11 players played both matches).

Pfft.
Pfft.
I sold up and thought I would just log occasionally to organise training. But it never happened, the interest waned...
And here I am again minus the £40million I had stashed from before

My interest has waned - been a struggle firstly with a hugely busy international job, and computers that locked down blocking Sokker. Added pain of no laptop for 2 years, and I found iOS hugely frustrating.....and still am frustrated at lack of proper fully linked app in iOS.
So I sold up many of my players, and am ticking over, with some cash in the bank, but not very thought through - I really should have sold up a load more players but forgot.
I've now got a laptop, but no mojo to get round to figuring out a training regime and signing the correct players...
But maybe I'll have a rethink......who knows....
