Subject: Defenders

Hi guys,

I have 2 questions regarding defenders.

a) Obviously, they need defending and pace. They also need technique and PM too. But, if you had to choose between a player with technique or a player with PM, would you take the one with technique or the one with PM (and for the purposes of this question, technique or PM won't be trained).

b) I'm still not sure about this after all this time. But, if you had to train Technique for your defenders. In the training page, if you set the position to defending and the skill to technique would those defenders technique train slower than if I had set the position to midfield and played those defenders in midfield for my friendly game that week?

Thanks in advance.

nope, actually they'll train faster (because, in the first situation, the training is calculated for an official match, while, in the second, for a friendly match).

I'd take the one with technique, pm and passing:P

On defenders tech > pm . Better they control the ball than give it away, or get tackled by a striker with a bit of defending skill. Still useful to have some PM though (thing with pm you need passing to go with it aswell).

I agree and would favour tech. However, fullbacks with a nice tech level and no pm are still going to boot it straight out of bounds. I think. I haven't watched a game in years.

Many thanks for your replies.

What do you prefer, 1 o 2? :))

1)
formidable stamina, tragic keeper
divine pace, divine defender
incredible technique, very good playmaker
solid passing, weak striker

Tech > pm

So 1.

Have better players than both though in defence ;)

Agree - No 1

Pass is a prior skill to PM as well - but it might depend of your opponent, if you meet a superior team and you would like to have fast counter attacks from DEF-line Pass + PM could be better than Tech IMO

EDIT: BTW sorry for interfering your forum with my rubish, but the Swedish forums are completely dead (except for my monologues there ) and I have a lot of spare time at the moment. :)

Don't be silly, the more the merrier! We don't exactly have huge numbers of people contributing here either. Feel free whenever you like :-)

I would personally lay the blame at guacamole leaving for the deadening of the USA forums.

As he's not here, I'd non candidate jonandabby for the blame.
