I don't think Southgate will be a world champion and will be sacked if he looses to Scotland.

Southgate is an absolutely clueless manager. No plan B....No plan A for that matter.

Maguire gets in because he plays for Man U....he doesn't actually play for Man U but he's registered with them. If Maguire played for Luton week in, week out he wouldn't get in the England squad but because he plays for Man U, he gets in.... Southgate is utterly awful in my opinion. He just selects players from what he sees as bigger clubs. Kalvin Philiips, I mean what is that about. OK, this one's a friendly (no such thing when playing our rivals Scotland) but please select players who actually play week in/out. Who deserve a game.

As an example, Lewis Dunk is a far better centre back than Maguire but because he plays for Brighton, not Man U, he has hardly had a chance.

Bellingham is a quality player BTW. Kane is a true professional.

In my lifetime, I don't think we've ever had a better opportunity to win a major trophy. Unfortunately we had coco the clown as manager during that so we fell short. However, the clown gets a pat on the back and we all say well done and all that. A decent manager would never have lost at home to Italy or lost to Croatia in the Semis.

Maguire has played for 23 minutes for Man Utd capitulating 2 goals and then the calamity goal v Scotland, I do not know how he makes the squad of 30, only reason is that he's played well with England in the past, that's bad management . Phillips played surprisingly well, Bellingham was 100% better in his favoured position where he didn't play vs Ukraine another bad manager skill.

We'd be World and European Champions without him but he threw that away leaving Greizman to run out to the left wing unmarked to where Mpbappe should be, man marked by Walker, Mpbappe moved in field, no plan b c or d there, yet I saw it before it happened, out in the quarter finals.
Loosing to Croatia was unforgivable, the draws England have had to make the semi's and Final my nephew could have got us there

We all know Southgate is a PR man, I doubt very much he'd do anything at club level
It's Eddie Howe or Graham Potter for me.

Southgate has shown that even if you play the worst football of your career for an entire year you can still get rewarded in Southgate's England, I wonder what the other players think, especially the defenders

I like Maguire, he is a joy to watch. Liverpool should pay half of his wage to stay at united.

Yeah, and that's a dangerous message for our potential future England players... I don't have to play well to get into the England side. It's also hard for players to come through into the England fold. Solly March has been in great form for the past few seasons but doesn't get a look in. I'm a Forest fan BTW...MGW could be given a chance too ;)

We always seem to breeze through the group qualifiers but when it comes to the important, knock out phase (more challenging games), we fail. We need a manager that can finally get us to win these knock out phase games and help us create some modern history. I don't feel Southgate has what it takes, sadly.

However, who would have what it takes? Any ideas? Potter nah, Eddie Howe maybe. Cooper....hopefully not just yet :)

You never know, you might get lucky and sign for you! ;)

I'm sure Chelsea will outbid us.
2023-09-13 21:55:27
That is true! Caicedo springs to mind :)

But he was a Chelsea fan, whereas I've heard Maguire is a massive Liverpool fan. Rumours have it...

Dreams could come true.

I don't recall such players ever being on my team;)

Count yourself lucky, Piotr :))))

From what I've read, you seem to have a problem with the coach, and fortunately, his name is not Piotr:)

I don't have a problem at all. I wish Southgate and Maguire all the best as long as they do the same job for England and United.

PS: The only coach I have a problem with is red and has a lie written on the side of it.
