I think they were worried that way too many players with multiple superskills were ruining the game. Which is true. I understand your frustration (in fact, I discovered this because I wanted to train PM on defenders) but, on the other hand, it is making sense. Like I said before, the tactical side of the game is fading away when you play against a VanDijk with Messi skills. I played a lot of games against teams with poor tactics but their super players were enough to compensate and even surpass the tactical difference.
On top of this, their ratings influence the game engine and you find yourself in a situation I mentioned earlier, when the engine is throwing away the tactical advantage with crazy moments in the game when the least rated team's players start making 'mistakes' (stupid passes, red cards, slow pace, holding the ball for too long, missing tackles and so on).

I guess I will have too juggle my training around - playing Carlton Davis with ATT orders in defence last night isn't ideal as I need him to have pace for the good of both him and the England NT. I just have so many players that need different things now and I may have to sell someone soon because it is becoming untenable. Triglio wants me to train one mid in defending and another in technique and frankly I want to help as much as I can but it is making training so hard. :(

They could've sorted the pace skill if they wanted to do something useful. make it like stamina. I'm sick of training pace every flipping week.
It's instances like that where you have to prioritise your own side over benefits to the NT - training for the NT isn't always what's best for yourself. It's currently quite straight forward for me as my 2 players of NT standard are straight forward to train, the younger players benefit from anything being trained.
If a player is in an advanced training slot, they get advanced training and general training. There's no positional training for them to my knowledge? I assuming when you refer to positional you mean formation training which is for players not in AT slot.
I have always tried to train to help the NT side though, which is why I have been a bit down on my lack of decent pulls for a while. My issue now is I have too many that need different skills though, and it is causing me a training logistical nightmare lol
7-1 win against relatively directionless kowal.
Injured another player of theirs too brining them closer to a WO without logging in.

4-4 gave away some poor goals, including an 87th minute equaliser.. But i suppose if you can't win then don't lose :)

The average income per ticket is £7.59 by the way, which is bang on the predicted price at the start of the season.

I lost against a goalkeeper. 15 shots against him but no chance, the guy's arms are longer than his body and cover the whole goal line. Nah, it's not even frustration, it's just a head shaking reaction. And then, obviously, the 61st minute my defender, first to the ball, somehow concedes a penalty.
In all honesty, I don't think the game engine was calibrated to the training reform. You can now lose against a goalkeeper. And, if the other team has another good player, you're done, no matter what tactic you deploy.

3-2 win, some shaky defending and another first teamer injured (as per) but we actually won a game :)
Fenland Vikings - Eudaimonia FC 0:1
It's like they've got a forcefield around their goal that makes my players stupid. I was fully expecting a last minute equalizer because it's been that kind of week.
