It's a good uni, and the place is getting much better with all the regeneration etc.
I'm going to Sheffield later in the year to study too
I went to Hallam and finished a couple of years ago but have now moved back to Sheffield its a good night out and a nice city.
what about language accent? is it hard to understand? (thats the most scary for me /:)
You'll never understand the locals, they have their own language!
Well im from Hull originally so i think they had more problems understanding me.
Its not too bad especially at uni as everyone is from all over so you will have lots of accents to contend with.
The one thing i found strange was alot of people tend to call you Duck. For example when you pay in a shop they say thank you duck. I think this is used in a fair few places but was just something i hadnt heard before.

Duck is used from Sheffield down as far as Warwickshire. In Stoke it's especially popular, "Goin' Up 'Anley Duck" seems to mean that the person saying that phrase is going to the shop, which is the only shop in stoke that isn't either a kebab shop, a curry house, or boarded up, and it's in Hanley.
But if you need any tips for good bars clubs or anything drop me a mail.
I spent three years there and two years later still call people duck accidentally, you hear it everyday and just start using it.
breadcake = large bread bun
breadcake = large bread bun
For some reason, this all reminds me of Jack Duckworth from Corrie. Is it because of his name, or did he actually call people duck?
sure, I just need to fulfill my conditional offer to get there [=
one of my best mates had just gone to hallam to do law
Go and watch "The Full Monty" - that'll teach you about sheffielders ;)

Sheff Uni is a good uni.
Sheff is a good student city, good "working class" industrial British city. Home to 2 football clubs with a long history. It's not the most affluent place, but is fine.
