Subject: New England Manager
if Steve McClaren plays this game, which i doubt, if he read this, he will be distrout, he will be hurt
I very much doubt that we are in Steve McClarens thoughts today Ken.
I really feel sorry for him, pressure has been on him so much

That's why he's paid an extortionate amount of money. Or was.
but the fact was he should have started James yesterday

Big Phil, someone who can try and get us playing with some flair, somebody who is not afraid to drop some of the fanciful fairies who wore England kits last night.
Watching England is the equivalent of watching my striker trainees without technique training.

Sure can, but only if they stop posting junk in the closed transfer forum.
Im fed up of typing "This is a closed tranfer forum, please take your poor excuse for a boot boy and go somewhere else."
**** off has a much nicer ring to it! :o)
Incidentally I voted for Jose, he could whip the bunch of loosers parading as england internationals into shape.

i listen Fabio Capello...he would be great coach
Mourinho would be good, but Lampard is his love child I am sure of it, and he is always so crap in an England shirt....wish he wasn't.
I reckon that Mourinho is the only man alive that could get lampard and Gerrard working well in the same team.
The fact lampard is Jose's love child may encourage lamps to play better.
It has to be Mourinho, he is the only man who wouldn't listen to the tabloids or the FA and pick a team that he thought could win. He also gets involved in mind games which is part of the game now. I would also like a quick gloat at all the morons (to be fair this was on HT but i no longer play that) who were xenophobic and said that England should only have and English coach, Sven would have got us there you stupid racist b#####ds. Sven wasn't all that bad after all was he!! The truth is we are no longer a footballing nation, English managers have won nothing of any importance in the last twenty years, except maybe the odd FA or League cup. The bar has been raised and we need a manager who can step up to the challenge rather than lower the bar so the first englishman we see can cope. Being English can no longer be the only qualification required to manage the national team. I am pretty angry at this because i think sven was unfairly ousted by the NOTW because they thought the players were what made the team good and were incensed by this swede who never paid any attention to them. I hope they are proud of themselves.
Sorry about the rant but i knew this would happen, i said so as soon as he got the job this is going to lead to tragedy. He should have gone six months to a year ago in order for someone to salvage something. His excuse for not dropping Robinson? "i tend to stick with the same players even through their bad spells" why were the alarm bells not ringing then? as it is we haven't qualified after not one but two "second chances", we haven't even got any pride left, no one in their right mind is going to want the job so we will get the best english manager in the premiership (mid to bottom half of the table) ands the same thing will happen when we fail to get to the world cup.
RIP English Football 1883-2007

Referring to your rant, there weren't too many english people who would have chosen nationality over qualifications, at least around the people I know. The whole thing was overhyped by the media.
As for sacking Sven, it was time for him to go. He is, first and foremost, a club manager, as he is now proving. He might have got us to the Euros but we'd have failed again at the quarters. We never really played well under him and we needed someone with some man management skills and some tactical nous to get us competing with the best teams in the world. The FA ballsed everything up that they possibly could and got us into this situation. A sort out of the FA is needed so that this does not happen again.
Anyway, possible managers:
i) Mourinho - Would be nice to have, and i'm saying this as a United fan, but he has enough sense to stay away. And he has already said that he wants to manage in Spain or Italy first. No international experience.
ii) Capello - has said that he'd like the job and has very good credentials. Criticised for the style of play but has a record of winning leagues with every team he has managed. No international experience.
iii) O' Neil - Doing well at Villa and did superbly at Celtic. Good record and has good man management skills. Not afraid to say what he thinks which may put him out of the running, as it did last time. No international experience.
iv) Marcelo Lippi - proven at international level. Amazingly successful at club level. Flexible and a motivator. Defensive minded, unsurprising for an Italian :). On sabattical at the moment, and has never managed outside Italy.
v) Scolari - Good international pedigree but still in contract and unlikely to even consider the job.
vi) Guus Hiddink - as above
vii) Harry Redknapp - a definate outside bet but if they decide to go English (again :( ) ... ... With Redknapp he's a good club manager but no real European experience and no international experience.
My ideal choice would be Lippi but as that is unlikely it would be a toss up between Capello and O Neil.
On the other hand, the FA will probably manage to screw it up despite everything and hire someone like Neil Warnock :(

On the basis that other is running away with it, should I start another poll ?
Others might be foreigners wanting to find out who we want.
