Although he has taken England U21s to the top of their qualifying table with an away draw in Portugal with ten or more players out injured. You know, as someone mentioned turds and polishing. He's the anti-Sven. Can't buy a player to save his life, but by golly he can get the most out of them. Ideal for national team management.

I'd be dubious about Pearce for England manager; and I'm a Forest fan. It's too soon for him imo. Mind you, we've got a while to kill before any 'proper' matches, perhaps that'd be a good run-in period for him.

England doesn't need another show-off... another bigwig, another good for nothing, media star, eccentric character git! Mostly, England DOESN'T need someone who will manage an affair with its unsteady, big/foul-mouthed fans, unbridled dumb-arsed newspapers or self-worshipping wannabe footie stars.

England needs someone quiet, hard working, grey, technical, without affection or remorse. I was close to saying someone German but that would be too short-lived. Take Avram Grant! He's there, he's available and he'll do wonders through his understated work. Getting results should be all that a new English coach should concentrate on. Not the ad campaigns of individual players, not their public profile, not their records or agents.

Take Avram Grant... that's the ticket!

I couldn't care less about Chelsea managers. No one could fail to finish in the top 4 of the Premiership at Chelsea with the squad they've got. Avram Grant looks like a washed-up version of the Grinch. At least Mourinho was entertaining, even if he was an egotistical wonker.

Wanting an English manager has got nothing to do with being a racist asterix. It's to do with actually understanding the point of national football - for nations to demonstrate the quality of their footballing setup. To show how succesful we are at nurturing and growing our home grown talent. To compete with other nations doing the same thing.

For some reason everyone seems to think this should only apply to the players. It shouldn't. It should apply throughout the national team setup.

Yeah yeah... keep doing what you did until today,... and that includes keeping the same self-aggrandising, yet belittling others notions, which got you to being out of the championship.

You failed repeatedly! At least have the decency to accept some 'building criticism' and support from those who care. I'm not talking about those who laugh at you.

Someone like Avram Grant who is not the greatest of coaches, but is not worse than your recently fired one, might do the >right< sort of work to help. Not help the horrible English media or the English fans with their presumptuous opinions of themselves. But the right work to start winning again and getting England back on the world map of football.
