Subject: FA cup and Carling Cup

Since im a fan of the English Premier League (I consider it the best football league in the world, better than the spanish and italian ones), Im a bit confused about these 2 cups.
I know the FA Cup is the oldest one, It started in the 1870s, and only 1 match is played, no 2 legs. Instead the Carling Cup is played in 2 legs.
But whats the difference between these 2 cups?, why are these 2 cups being played right now and at the same time?.
Can anyone explain me that?.
Best regards to the creators of Football. :)

The FA cup is open to all clubs in England, about 750 or so I think and takes ages to do, the league cup (currently called the Carling Cup but have had other sponsors) only can be entered by the 92(?) clubs in the league.
oh, just thought - I think the cup was invented ages ago when then invented floodlights so the clubs could make more income by playing weekday evenings or something like that...

The league cup (wiki)
During the late 1950s, the majority of senior English clubs equipped their grounds with floodlights. This opened up the opportunity to exploit weekday evenings throughout the winter. The League Cup was introduced in the 1960–61 season specifically as a mid-week floodlit tournament. In the early years of the competition, many of the top teams declined to take part. It was only when automatic entry to the UEFA Cup was promised to the winners that the full League membership took part.

The premiership isn't the best league in the world, it's the only league in the world that matters. Who gives a damn about Italian football? There all a bunch of fags anyway.
I think that might be a tad partizan? Or should that be parmizan..?
